Aye I’m on the ‘my breeding tab’. See on Sirius’ post it says above the stallion part about the top stallions, that’s the but I was referring to, in the tab with the 3 horses on at the top of the area of the stallions it shows ‘current international top sites’ those are the ones that don’t have the ‘s’ next to them, even the stallions in my home country. In the other section, where it’s all the home nation stallions, I’m able to breed to those ones.

Post Re: Breeding for the league?!
Hello Hello!!!! :D

I've found myself somehow drawn back to wanting to start-up a new stable for the coming league season after a few years off, so I'm putting in some serious hours to try and get a squad together!

Obviously breeding and trailing are the most important areas to spend time on. Last time I played I had a couple of decent bloodlines going but they ultimately fizzled out and I struggled to find horses that were competitive in the league and I kinda lost interest after that. I was wondering what you guys look for in a horse when buying from auctions throughout a season?? Does anyone really bother buying up 2yo's at the sales at the beginning of a new season? I never seem to have much luck with auctions... Maybe I need a different approach? I just want to try and keep my gene pool as large as possible this time!

To start with I usually concentrate on just sprinters until I have some decent Stallions in stud, after that I'll move on to the Milers etc etc... Does anyone else do the same when establishing a new game? I wonder if I maybe missing out on good horse for other distances early in the game though by playing it this way?

Cheers guys! Good to be back!

Steve

First couple of seasons of a save I will buy whatever mares I can and put them in the breeding barn. Can be after selling or claiming races, weekly sales or breeding sales and it doesn't matter how good they are.
Then I breed them to all the stallions in the stud barn so that I can find out which stallions have good stats in each of the main categories; Potential, Extra Speed, Cruising Burst, Enthusiasm, Confidence etc etc.
This establishes my breeding lines which I try and maintain and improve.
I only buy from the 2yo or yearling auctions if they are the offspring of a sire that I have already identified as being good in one of the main categories.
After about 10 seasons I start to trial in the CK and establish a CK line which I then try and breed into each of my lines depending on which category they are deficient in.

Sounds simple

Simples.....

How long do you hold on to Mares who don't seem to produce decent offspring? I feel a spreadsheet coming on!

More often than not, far too long

I hate to get rid of any because you just never know what they might produce!

Is it allowed in the online league for someone to share a trial horse?

I don’t know if it is possible. I assume it is somehow as this is how the races are run by sharing of horses. I’d be intrigued if I could persuade someone to send me a certain level or horse to trial against. For example a trial horse that someone used that turned out to be an 80 rated at 1m as an example.

I’m thinking of ways to give me the enthusiasm to get back to the breeding and trialling of horses.

Not possible only race runners are allowed to share files for running the races
