 Re: Start New League
Just wondering, If I were to volunteer to run races, how many races would I be running per week? I could help out but my upload speed it not the greatest.
And you mention running in 1080p but the races on youtube are not 1080p which is 1920x1080 16:9. The races are 4:3 at a ratio of 960x640 with black border padding on the sides.
Would I need to record at 1080p then downgrade to 920x640 then add padding of black borders to bring it back to 1080p?

No you would just Record the highest Quality you can and just put the video into Drop Box I then collect it I put it through Movie Maker add some coms then Save movie to 1080 before uploading to you tube if we get 4 race runners I then spilt the races 4 ways so everyone will get the same amount and all will run races in both codes. How many races would that be? I did a sample test. Just a 5f race which was 107Megs for a 1 min 51 secs vid and it looks a bit choppy. https://youtu.be/B97N2Ww45voThe NH races would be 4 to 5 mins long I think. Unless I downgrade to lower resolution. I will do some NH test and see the file size and will try to make it run smoother.

 Re: Start New League
Gray, a few question regards the flat handicapping before I start to setup my excel spreadsheet...
Will all horses be starting with a 0 and be running in maidens until they receive a rating, just as they would in real life (I'm assuming that's the idea)? Will there be returning horses coming from the last league season with a rating already or are we starting totally from scratch with everything?
Cheers Steve

Cheers Steve All Flat Horses Start with a Rating of 75 And Jump Horses 100 every trainer should export the horses with these Ratings Type in 975 in CK on the Horses Ratings and all your export horses should then show 75 for returning horses Tom will show the rating the horse had last season. Gray

Not Bad you can try turning off Realistic weather / Realistic Shadows on Mid and Anti aisling 4 that's what I use I know Kevcon runs his races with everything but he has a real good graphics card. Gray I will do some NH test and see the file size and will try to make it run smoother.

File size is too big. This one is 336 megs for a 2mile chase. I'm guessing 500megs average size for NH race since it runs from 2miles to 4miles. 20 races would be 10gigs. https://youtu.be/dCFX3gOiY78I'm not sure I can upload that much data per week.

Will also run a trail later to see, data size will be less of an issue for me, but speed maybe.

File size for a 2m chase should be around 80-90 megs. A 3m hurdle or chase should be around 125 megs. What screen capture software are you using and what settings? I play the game in windowed mode with a screen res of 1280x800 and use OBS Studio to record the races and make the following changes to the settings. Video: Base (canvas) resolution - 1280x800 Output (scaling) resolution - 1280x800 FPS values - 60 Output: Recording Format - mp4 Recording Quality - same as stream (default). there are 1 or 2 options here that can result in very large file sizes. Everything else is left at default settings.

I see why it's smaller. You are recording at 1/2 the resolution. I'm running at 1920x1080 and Using H264 compression in a MP4 container. Audio 44.1khz 320 kbps Just like mp3s My GPU is overclocked with the latest drivers. Switched from OBS to AMD's Play.tv recorder because OBS was using too much overhead. I'll downgrade to 720p (1280x720) and check the file size

 Re: Start New League
I got it down to 149 megs from 336 when I switched to 720p (1280x720). Race is smoother too but quality is down as can be expected. Cut/spliced in a few thing and added text. Let me know if the text/odds is not wanted in the league. https://youtu.be/p1Wu8wt2Ddc

While you can add text if you wish it just adds to the time it will take to get the races uploaded. Remember you could be running up to 20 races and commentaries need to be recorded as well before Gray can upload to YouTube with the first 10 races in both codes usually available to view around midnight Monday. We should have comms for most, if not all races, so mute the volume before recording too as the game audio isn't needed.

 Re: Start New League
Has Kev said we don't need text on the video just the race starting from Loading to end result page I put the race title on each race in Movie Maker if we get 4 runners you could be Looking at 15 Races a week I will pop in and do some if there's more than 16 each I will spilt 8 Flat and 8 Jumps the Horse Files (Races) are ready to run around 7pm on Friday evening I need Mondays Races Day 1 if possible done first so Doug and the guys can get some coms done but the others races can be spread over Friday and Saturday but Wednesdays races should be done by Sunday.
Mute the Sound on your game then its better for the Commentator if you Decide you would like to have a go you will need the race kit so let me know and then I can give you the race kit to download from Dropbox so you can Play with also instructions how to use it its also best to run the races in Windowed 1280x800 its then easier to move horse files from Folder to game folder and back.

 Re: Start New League
I just want to touch on what Kev said - and this is from my experience doing comms - just keep it simple and sweet as it can take up a bit of your time doing it - after a while you will get quicker at it as you work out short cuts. Good luck

 Re: Start New League
Gray,
Is this race kit what the comms guys will be using? If so, I'd like to please have a practice with it before I definitely commit.
Thanks
