 Re: League Weekly reaction
NH
Another day, another winner, that's 3 now. Archenfield got up late to win the Castlegar handicap chase. She is still rated lowly so may have a chance of going in again. Sudan and Northumbrian Belle both performed admirably off big weights
FLAT
Still no wins but a coupld made the money in small fields. Also Adforton ran well to finish 6th in a G3.
Good to see Sirius get off the mark after what happened earlier in the week.

Then a second with Sister High who only got caught in the shadows of the post (thankfully I had no customers in the shop while watching those two races although the gym next door probably heard me yelling lol) then I had a 4th with Du Dordogne and a 5th with my last start winner Achiever. I also had a 3rd with Noverre Noverre on day 2 and I think my horse Japan Miss ran inside the first five over the jumps but then the race got re-run and it was pulled up. Oh well. Great finish in The Preakness and a great call by Mike! The winner looked gone but kicked when it mattered the most! Lot's of close finishes and a baptism of fire for Marty...I think his first few races had them spread across the track at the post! Well done Marty Crikey - how polished did Steve sound with his calls!!!!! I think Steve is our Premier Caller for sure Congrats to all who won and to all who participated with runners or behind the scenes. Doug. Nothing stopping you now Doug, you obviously have some horses with decent marks to have fun with now

 Re: League Weekly reaction
Some great runs on the flat with all 4 of my runners getting within touching distance, looks like my 2yos look quite decent this year.
Another win over the jumps! Madness, good but unexpected win from Superb Caviar another one of the miler brigade that made the jumps team. Zeo and Ninja Samurai went close too...
I'm amazed at how good my milers seem to be faring over the jumps yet on the flat they seem to be my worst!
Congrats to all winners and placer's, quite glad we are getting a wide range of trainers winning and picking up prize money! Sirius finally got a win too!
I'll plod through the ratings in about half an hours time.

 Re: League Weekly reaction
UKRA Only 2 runners both ran shockers in the Irish 1000 & 2000 Guineas
NHC Cross Girl ran well in the Sytaj Grade 3 Chase finished 3rd Amazonian Queen Ran a cracker in 2nd in the DV Novice Hurdle another furlong might have made the difference Jimmy Dean An enigma and a pain of a horse one week he soups up another he gets totally outpaced 5th in this weeks bumper
A quiet end to the week but was a good week for me 5 winners over both codes and almost in double figures for each code more than expected.
Very sad to see that John had no runners this week just does not feel right
Thanks to the team for your continued hard work it is hugely appreciated we have a great team of commentators now all exceptional and all add something different keep up the good work lads
well done to the winners and placers

 Re: League Weekly reaction
Thanks to all of the encouragement from you guys I finally snap the losing streak and get my first winner of the year with a horse that I had no expectations for. First timer The Free World wins a Maiden race. I followed that up with a second in the Grade 1 Irish 2000 Guineas. All in all a pretty good week even with the DQ. Congrats to all the fellow winners. Great comms! The comms are getting better each week.

 Re: League Weekly reaction
It was a strange week for my stable, I had about 7 horses running that I fancied their chances in doing well but only 2 of them managed to place. On the bright side, I had 2 horses who had unexpected wins, so perhaps it evens itself out.
FLAT
Musselburgh Lad won a 5 horse race in the Lingfield Stayers H/cap. The only other horse I had running finished 6th in the JLT Lockinge Stakes.
Jumps
Numerator Girl ran a close 3rd in the Buck House. I was worried that 2m 2f would be a furlong too far in the soft conditions, but she was running strongly at the end. She just had too much to do in the final furlong.
Tree Surgeon made all the running in the Royal Bond G1 Hurdle and I thought he was going to go wire to wire but was just pipped into 2nd. This was an unusual run as my horses tend to run midfield and come thru at the end of the race. I think every other horse in the race must have had a hold up instruction.
Route One Lad won the final race of the day. I did not expect anything from him as his previous form had not been good, so this was an unexpected win.

 Re: League Weekly reaction
Wow so close to my first group 1 in the Preakness. Devious Diva ran a blinder. Also thought i had a squeak in the Guineas, leading till half a furlong out, Northern Hero just doesn't get a mile. The Jersey should be the perfect race for him. Gee Dee Nen ran another good race in the Moores Millions, debating whether to drop him down 3f and have a crack at the Hennessy but i have a few options in the race. Congrats Scatters on the guineas double, looks a cracking horse, bet you thought he was well in when he won a handicap on his 2nd start Also good to see Sirius grabbing a winner, after what happened.

 Re: League Weekly reaction
Thanks guys. Each loss was stinging more and more. No worries even with the lack of wins it's just as fun as it always has been. I didn't expect to be a powerhouse stable. What I like to see is all my horses earning a check somewhere along the line. Also I like to see the finish position of my horse improve with each race which tells me I'm choosing the right spot.

 Re: League Weekly reaction
Buurmansgek !!!! Really unexpected my first ever classic on the flat and I think my first ever group 1 winner with a 3 year old. Normally my older horses are always better The first two came from last and second last. The horse was last with 2 and half furlongs to go and came very wide and just got up. The horse name pronunciation was a bit better in Doug's call, sorry Steve . Khoisan a horse who has never gone over 6f in my game and normally runs over 5f wins a 7f race in the league!!!!! He was getting tired at the end but nevertheless that is a total surprise NH was ok Waterloo Sunset has now won or placed from 2m2 to 3m that's a huge spread in distance. Beggars Banquet placed carrying 12 stone and here I was thinking carrying that weight and going the wrong way would result in him coming down the weights. 4 winners in total with Wild Goose Chase opening his account
