If I retire one of my horse that hasn't run yet, does that count as 1? Cuz i have 3 which hasn't run yet and I'd like to replace them.

Rich I have a question on the 3 run rule for handicaps does a horse have to run in like all hurdle races to qualify for a handicap hurdle or can it be a mix of hurdle and chase races

the way i see it is they would have to run in three races over the same obstacle as they have a hurdle and chase rating
last year i had typhoon lagoon, had one run before season ended, over fences (i think) . when festival was run i couldnt enter him into a handicap hurdle as he only had that rating for chases. so i put him in the queen mother and he came 3rd haha.
so id imagine it is 3 runs over hurdles for a handicap mark and same for chases. it should be this way anyway as the horses have a rating for each
NB - my horse Flushing Meadow who won 2m6f hurdle maiden in week 1 is running over fences in the old roan chase this week. His rating is 0, but is 115 over hurdles

Yes i thought it would be but what about horses you want to run over both it would take 6 races to beable to run in hurdle and chase handicaps
I also think the 3 run rule in a short season is abit too much 2 maybe is best i think because not every week will you beable to find a race to enter so really it gonna take longer then 3 weeks to beable to enter handicaps

this is why i have horses running over silly distances - Not Even One in a 3m4f chase and Boston Bridge in a 3mile hurdle. for the exact reason you say
Flushing Meadow is chasing this week because he is a 2m6f debut winner over hurdles. his options are limited for a while and he is too good to just leave unraced, broke course record in week 1. in game he was a chaser so i thought id let him have a go at fences - his jumping is terrible

I have hopefully structured the races so that you can get a handicap mark easily enough if you uploaded week 1. If it turns out to be a problem I will look at reducing it to two.
Horses have individual marks for both hurdles and fences and so they require 3 runs over the required obstacles.

Rich, I think there is a lack of 1m4 maidens for 3yos
Im having to run Sea Bird at Newbury in soft ground because its the only option and he cant run on soft. So after that, he might not be rated high enough to get into the Chester Vase or the Derby.
This horse sbsolutely loves Epsom and Good To firm ground but im worried he wont get into the race now.

I know what you mean New Approach but it's the same for everyone and it's realistic, there aren't many 1m4f trials for 3yo before the Derby (I'd actually like to get rid of them so people are forced to take in a standard trial like the Dante etc. this will have to be done next season though).
Pepsiboy, i've decided to kick off the commentary 'competition' with week 3, the first G1s. Look out on the forums over the next couple of days for details.
Cheers
Rich
