 Re: Rookie Race Runner
So having tried my hand at race running I'd appreciate any feedback on the way I have done the recordings, bit trial and error. For reference mine are the Wednesday runs, flat race 25 to 32 and NH 25-31

 Re: Rookie Race Runner
Great stuff Josh. Wouldn't have guessed it was your first go. In fact I don't think we give you race runners enough praise as you all do a great job. I'd never know when to pan in or out, or change angle. Commentating is much easier you just waffle on talking nonsense which I can do standing on my head !

 Re: Rookie Race Runner
I found it ok John and easy enough to do, I just watched it and reacted to what I figured I wanted to see. It is a slightly depressing process though as it steals some of the excitement of watching races with commentary knowing what is going to happen, I tried to be disinterested, but not easy to do when you have horses running. Will take the shine off a little I think, especially for the big races, same for all who are working behind the scenes.

 Re: Rookie Race Runner
For lack of a better place to put this gentle request - Can the race video recorders please record the full formcard at the end of each race. Specifically I am referring to when you have to scroll down to see the donkeys that finished in the back. This helps me the handicapper get the ratings done faster. When I can't see the rest of the horses in the formcard I have to wait for the results to go up in TOM to finish handicapping the race.
Also some of us donkey trainers like to see where our horse finished in the formcard even though they have no talent. Thanks.

Another thing that is hard to do is when you have run a race and know the result but a trainer is discussing a horses chances in a race on the forums, you can't join in the discussion in case you give the result of the race away. One of the things that I find hard to do when I run a race with one of my horses in the race is not to watch\concentrate on my horse to the detriment of getting the correct camera angles for the rest of the field. I ran many of Mondays races this week and knew I had won races 3 & 5, but I still watched the races and enjoyed Dougs commentary. Sometimes Dougs and Martins reaction to a favourite being beaten or an outsider winning or just their little anecdotes makes the race worth watching again.

Also can I expand on this as well - if it is possible to not scroll down straight away - just gives me a chance to waffle about the placings and mention 4th and 5th. It would only mean sitting at the top of the page for 5 seconds longer before scrolling down. Cheers

I was brought up on a weekly diet of Lord Oaksey (some of my fellow veterans will get that). Also can we slow down the pre race card because I am struggling to get all the names in ... I swear they are all longer this year !! Thanks for the nice comment about the coms Jim. Can't speak for Doug but I always do mine in one take and don't play them back so still enjoy watching the races. Usually I can't remember what has won until near the end and spend most of the race picking myself up for mistakes or missing things. Its a good learning curve. Even last year when I had no horses I still watched every race every night. This is highly addictive and can get more interesting than the real racing at times. Second mystery of the day ......... What has Gray done with his Budgies See you are right Josh I have even waffled on too long here !
