depends what level
if you run a 2 miler at 2miles in a maiden they can then only race at 1m7 and 2m1 in handicaps but can race at any distance
in group company as long as they have had a run and there rating high enough i think i hear mentioned that field sizes for big races will be cut
to 15 or 16 not sure dont quote me on that

I would stick horses in at 1m6, 2m and 2m4. Possibly even 2m2. I think there might be a bit more leniency on distances horses can run at this season, though we might have to see how things go to start with. Also we certainly wouldn't want anyone taking the piss.

There really is no point having loads of horses at 5f-12f as there wont be enough races for them. Even if the horses you enter at staying trips aren't great you will still have more chance of winning a race with them than the ones that cant run enough.

Some ck times to aim at. Ascot, good ground, G1. Dont run more than 10 horses in a trial, well 12 max id say as horses can run very wide at Ascot. I've deleted all my old horses otherwise id send you some to test against yours.

1m6 3:08-3:09

2m 3:41-3:43

2m4 4:44-4:47

Thats where I started. Im now a few seconds quicker on each but id like to think mine are now Group horses as a lot of trainers neglect stayers, whereas I find it easier for some reason.

thanks guys...i will start trialing now to see where i am at...ur right it does not make any sense uploading a stable full of 5f to 12f horses as some of them might not even run so thats why i thought maybe i will swap 2 of my 7f horses for 2 stayers instead..its just amazing how those stayers can race and win in those long distance races i even enjoy watching them for some reason..lol

Id go with this and adjust where you see fit mate.

2 5f horses (1 2yo and 1 3yo+ horse)
2 6f horses (1 2yo and 1 3yo+ horse)
5 milers (2yo colt and filly, 3 year old colt and filly + one older horse)
4 10f horses (1 2yo, 3 year old colt and filly + one older horse)
3 12f horses (3 year old colt and filly + one older horse)
1 14f horses
1 2m horse
1 2m2-2m4 horse(4yo+)

Leaves me one space. Notice I cant have a horse for every distance and sex. I cant have a 5f 2yo filly and colt, it must be one or the other. Same at 6f. Obviously other trainers will have both but will then have to free up a slot elsewhere, but then maybe not have stayers at all. My 2yo milers will probably cover 7f as well if this is permitted. But I dont think my 2yo's are great

Thats what id use for my stable, but I will be using a colt and filly at a lot of distances to aim at classics and big races which you might not?

thanks matt i will probably start 2morow and work out a balanced stable like what u showed..my flat stable is almost the same as the one u showed but without the longer distance horses which i am working on now just need to make a few tweaks here and there...what age do ur stayers hit max potential?becoz i have one that is 7yo but not max yet but it has the potential to go max because of the faded green area....

Im not sure he ever will reach his maximum potential. I started ditching the ones who had a lot of the potential bar to fill up as they never seemed to realise it. Every now and then you might get one who is green and improves a lot with racing but its rare. You could try breeding from him though to see if he passes on the max potential

Ive never found a stayer with high ability stats in the auction, always very low.

i have started to work on 2milers
what i do is skip 1st 6 months then goto end of season save last day
goto auction buy every 1m6 - 2m4 horse
if i dont find anything decent i ctrl alt dlt and goto auction again
i found a really good 2miler won the wellington & Auckland cup 2m g1handicap races and g2 at meydan city of gold at 4
his 4yo career still in progress
he only won the japan st leger at 3
hoping to cover my best 1m4 mares and come up with a leger horse or a melbourne horse
he has good stats

i hope u find a melbourne horse paul u deserve it for all the time u put in the game...what age do u export ur stayers at i guess it would not make sense to export them at 2 because they cant race at that age?..

I've had a lot of fortune with stayers in the league and it's purely down to the fact not many players really look at it, 2 of the best stayers I've had have been gamebreds or bred from a gamebred. You really have to strike a bit of luck to find a top class gamebred but I've found if you want a 2 miler the best thing to do is slowly breed in pace with stamina lines i.e. breed a 1m4f with a 1m6f/1m7f/2m horse and then slowly breed the better off spring until you end up with quick 2 milers but if you want an Ascot Gold Cup/Cadran horse you need something that will stay all day and that's it, it's amazing how many horses will not get the 2m4f trip, I've seen it in game and in the league, doesn't matter how classy the horse is if it doesn't stay the whole 2m4f of the trip it isn't going to be winning any Ascot Gold Cups. The best thing to do is keep looking through the auctions and try and buy as many decent 2m4f gamebred's as possible and try and find the holy grail with a full stamina bar that wins the Gold Cup/Cadran 3/4 times a career, I'm telling you now as well if you can find something that will hose up in both those races then take it to win a melbourne cup off 130-140 you have hit gold, I only ever had one horse that could win a Melbourne Cup off top rating and win 3 Ascot Gold Cup's and that same horse happened to win the Gold Cup in the league!

Lol, good luck!! Will be tough, I also find a lot of horses that win over 2m2f in SO5 do struggle to still get 2m4f but maybe I just haven't found the right bloodline yet for my Stayers. Still well behind with my squad, have a good 300 in CK but it's mainly 80-120 horses uploaded at 2/3/4/5 etc!! My times are behind but there might be one or two jokers in the pack, I have a 1m4f horse that consistently beats anything I have by 2 lengths on any course which could be interesting, especially as he was sired by a Leger/Irish Leger winning sire who only won 3 Group 1's yet the Dam is a 12 x G1 including Arc's etc. Been thinking about the bloodlines aspect more and when I put my stable together I might add the breeding in for a bit of interest for example:

BLOOD RAYNE (3yo Colt)
Knox (4/1/0) x Honour Rain (12/3/0) (Honorine)
G1 Derby G1 Arc De Triomphe
G1 Eclipse G1 Oaks
Maybe a little description underneath. Be good to see a few comments about the temperament of the horse/running style etc.
Be nice to see how other people's bloodlines have expanded!
