Sorry for the quiet period these last couple of weeks, work has been very busy. Dave is rebuilding TOM to make it faster and also easier to use. I think it's worth biting the bullet because, frankly, it's a pain if the functionality isn't there. Anyway, hopefully it won't take too long but also set us up for future seasons better as well.

any time scale? if we're talking months might it be worth running one last season on the current tom whilst dave rebuilds for the next time around?

To manage expectations, I think it is possible that we could be able to test the basic functionality within a week or so. I am simply not going to try and replicate the wide array of functionality in the current version of TOM such as betting, historical reports etc but rather focus on the core functions of:
user management & registration
managing your horses
entering races

The fundamental issue that has caused the problems for ongoing league administration has been the difficulties if setting up new leagues as it has required manual intervention given the way TOM is currently structured.

The rebuild is aimed to remove this barrier and make it easier for future leagues to be configured and managed. As I said, some functionality may be sacrificed in the short or medium term but if we can get the leagues fully operational again, I doubt most people will object.

I would hope that we can start doing some testing this time in a week or at least some of the basics and that will give you confidence we are talking hopefully a few weeks rather than months.

Thanks for the update Dave. I don't think we've got (at least not myself personally and I suspect most others here) high expectations but information is always appreciated. I look forward to when you get TOM ready and building up stepwise from the ground up would certainly be a great way to get things kicked off with more functionality to be added as when time permits you to do so.
