Post subject:  Final testing - TOM - race entries

Hi all

First, I appreciate your continued patience. It has taken longer than even I expected but this hopefully is the last major rebuild and then we can focus on a stable league platform.

I have finished the last of the basic requirements - the core race entry checks.

The race entries page should now filter out ineligible horses based on the race conditions:
- race sex
- race age
- maidens (all horses will be maidens but for week 1 only)

I still need to add race entry checks for ratings/handicaps. Also, there needs to be some clearly defined business rules regarding order entry so that these can be added to TOM to display final fields in order of entry.

I have also added in code that closes race entries automatically based on the race close time. I've set the time for race 1 to earlier this month so you shouldn't be able to enter race 1. Race 2 should close tomorrow 25 Feb @ 1 pm UKT (is there such a thing). The other races have a nominal closing time of March.

In terms of the league basics, we should have enough to get started. That is:
- trainer registration
- horse upload & stable management
- race entries

Obviously, there's a bit to do to finish TOM eg reports and I also need to ensure the scripts are updated to process the results.

If anyone finds any problems, please let me know.

Otherwise, I am happy to suggest we clean out all testing data and allow registrations and uploads for the upcoming UKRA league. That assumes there is a president, secretary etc in place. I'm also going to suggest to Mark that we have a gap of 2 weeks between close of week 1 and close of week 2. That will allow time for all the backend code to be tested.

At this rate, i may even have to install SO5 so I can participate!

To be fair, I haven't done any testing on a mobile. I'll see what I can do but display things can take as much time as some of the complicated functionality.

I was able to remove my horse from race 1 even though noms had closed.

Ahh! Good testing. I hadn't even thought of that I was so focussed on checking eligibility and race close times. I will fix tonight.

As a general comment, any matters that are critical to the launch will be fixed as soon as I can but any nice to haves or definitely need at some stage in the future will be done when I have the time.

However, this is a critical fix.

Some good testers in the SOPL community!

Will you be doing any testing on the NHUK side dave or as soon as you have done the UKRA you will automatically apply the same to a NHUK league stables.

A good question.

The site should be multi-league compliant. However, I haven't done any significant testing as I don't have a NH schedule. In general tho, the same processes & functions work but there may be some additional business rules that need to be added.

Given the ongoing issues we have had to get where we are, I have simply committed to getting TOM to a stage where we can start a UKRA league asap. I think we are now a couple of weeks away from a start altho I realise we will have to spend time on re-engineering the backend as well.

Once we have that in place, there will be enhancements (eg reports etc) required for the UKRA and the inevitable bugs/fixes etc.

In terms of managing your expectations, yes the NH will be catered for but it may not happen in the immediate future.

As a footer, I have also tried to set up TOM so that it should - at least in theory - be possible to run multiple leagues from the same association concurrently. This would allow for overlapping leagues using different engines. Again, I haven't tested it but it should be achievable albeit with a little bit of testing.

You should now no longer be able to change a nomination after the race closes.

Can someone please check if the race closes at 1 pm UK time. I doubt I'll be up ... midday siesta for me ;)

Hi Dave could you contact me leonvanrensburg at yahoo dot com. I'm the new NH president. I can probably give you a hand if you want. Have a decent enough knowledge of Java, C++ , perl , PHP and my SQL is ok.

I can get a schedule to you as well for NH

Hi Dave, thanks for all your hard work.

The flat schedule is changing back to more or less the one used for last season.

I should have it completed by the end of this week or middle of next week.

How would I or anyone else go about putting this schedule into the new TOM.

Steve

Hi Steve

It's a bit of a pain as the schedule needs to be converted and massaged to fit into the database structure. I had hoped we were working off the final schedule but I understand there has been changes.

I will need to import it but what would be easiest is I provide you with a CSV file extract from the table and then you can update this file and follow the same format. Hope that makes sense.

If you email me at david at wildchild dot co dot nz I can send you the file.

David

Tired to enter a horse in race 9 week 1 and got the following SQL error

Duplicate entry '9-102' for key 1
SQL: INSERT INTO t_sopl_race_result (race_id,hrs_id) VALUES (9,102)

Will check it out tonight. What page are you on? View races? Did you enter the race previously and then scratch it.
