I would like to see: Fewer made up races and more real life races. From lowly handicaps to Group1's. A schedule that mirrored the real life racing calender. March-Nov with the races in the correct order Maidens in later weeks of the season. Trainer maidens for trainers who have not won a race. Listed and Group races in the same weeks as the maidens. Enter your poor horses at the risk of a high mark Also some races near the end of the season for horses rated too high to win a handicap but not up to listed or group class. Obviously thats a big list but they are only ideas and it would be impossible to implement them all. As for distance spread I think this is greater in SO5 and as long as trainers dont try to plot one up then this should be 3f for the shorter distances, providing you have run in the correct maidens, and then 4f for 14f+. |

only 1 all maidens to be run at a track with no bias so we get a truer reflection on the handicap |

I like Matt's idea about Maidens later on in the season I already put that idea in the other thread to steve and leon yesterday apart firm giving trainers a chance it gives poorly Handicappers a chance too. Also would like to see every Racecourse used in the UK Flat and NH Schedules even though I haven't notice any Jump racing at SOUTHWELL yet Mark ![]() And before we start I don't why but Aintree's national course is Wrong the horses jump both Chair And water on the ran in cost me a national ![]() |

Races in correct order would be great. Bigger spread distance wise. In SO5 horses are more versatile. But happy to go with the flow |

5 -9F: +/- 1F i.e. you run in a 5f maiden and over the season you can then run over 5f or 6f. 10 -14F: +/- 2F (meaning you can have a horse run in the guineas/Dante/Judmonte International, or a horse run in the Derby/Leger) 15F - 16F: +/- 3F or 4F at the discretion of the steward(s) 16F +: +/- 4F meaning you can have a Dubai Gold Cup, Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood/Donnie Cup, Irish St Leger, Melbourne cup horse. Obviously there would be rules like if you run over 6f in a maiden you can't run over 7f, then 5f, then 7f again. You have to stick +/- 1F from the distance of your maiden and the distance of your last run; with the maiden distance determining the range of distances you can race over. So you can go from 10F up to 12F, but you can't then go to 14F or 8F because that would be more than the 2F rule. You could go 10F, 12F, 10F, 8F as that would still be within the confines of the rules. etc I thought some of those distance rules were some of the best ideas brought into the league because it meant that there was some versatility like in real life. Plus as horses are more versatile in SO5 are we not wasting a new option for us? I think it would be good to have, what do other people think? If you still need my help then I'm happy to do anything barring commentaries and bookmaking. If you're worried about stewarding for distance changes then I'd be more than happy to elect myself as a steward to enforce those, or any other rules that are brought in. Obviously this is my idea, but I think it could work. I would still be open to stewarding the distance rules. |
