I think with this that the longer the distance the bigger the range? A 5f horse wouldn't be able to win over 9f but a 2m horse might be able to win over 2m4. 5-7f 6-8f 7-10f 8-11f 9-12f 10-13f 11-14f 12-16f 13-17f 14-18f 15-20f Thats only a quick bit of thinking. I see 2f is the most popular and I agree with this at shorter distances, just thinking about the stayers. |

I agree matt a 5f horse prob would not be enterd in a 1m1 race but a 2mile horse could well win a 2m4 race we need to get the rules sorted not everyone is going to be happy but how about this ideal distance max distance bracket 5f............5f to 7f 6f............5f to 8f 7f............5f to 1m1f 1m............6f to 1m2f 1m1..........7f to 1m3f 1m2..........1m to 1m4f 1m3.......... 1m1f to 1m5f 1m4...........1m2f to 1m6f 1m5 ..........1m3f to 1m7f 1m6 ..........1m4f to 2miles 1m7 ..........1m5f to 2miles2f 2m+ ..........1m6f to 2m4f |

its a fair 2f either side at most distances like the majority have voted for but a bit of leeway for stayers |

5 -9F: +/- 1F i.e. you run in a 5f maiden and over the season you can then run over 5f or 6f. 10 -14F: +/- 2F (meaning you can have a horse run in the guineas/Dante/Judmonte International, or a horse run in the Derby/Leger) 15F - 16F: +/- 3F or 4F at the discretion of the steward(s) 16F +: +/- 4F meaning you can have a Dubai Gold Cup, Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood/Donnie Cup, Irish St Leger, Melbourne cup horse. Copy and paste of my idea again. |

While the best trip for most horses will be the same in both the ck and league, trainers should bear in mind that for some horses this will not be the case. Your best miler in the ck might be best at 10f in the league or vice versa. My first group 1 winner was best at 6-7f in the ck, and didn't stay 1m, but won its group 1 in the league over 9f!! |

Totally agree with this. I had 2m4 horse who was best in my trials but useless in the league. I dropped him back to 2m and he romped home. |
