Post Flat Handicap Ratings Week 2
Have been updated. I have checked all the ratings once but if you think there is a mistake or your horses ratings haven't been updated please post here. I will check back in the morning and tomorrow evening.

Please check any entries already made against the new ratings. Any horses above the handicap bands will not run.

Matt

PS Thanks to Dochay for doing the ratings even if you only did drop Acca Pulco 5lbs!

I wanted to drop him a bit more but its hard with the stable you have, he cant be that bad! There was quite a lot of horses in the 90s who I had to drop, everyone in the Qasser maiden, including Sharp Reply was overrated. There was a couple who wasted incredibly good handicap marks aswell. Much easier to rate accurately over 2 races.

The 2yo races are a nightmare, they are going to beat each other all season, and the form went out the window in the staying races due to suspect pace.

Something wrong with the 2yos, when you run in open they run half a second faster, and even then they are unpredictable. I think two of mine are quite well handicapped, couldnt rate them any higher on what they done but im pretty sure they are capable of better.

I've always maintained that running 2 year old races as 2 year old only makes the result a crap shoot. The only way I can get any consistency in results is to run as 2,3 or open but Paul and Leon preferred it this way. It will make handicapping difficult and I don't envy your job Joe.

Its first season for a lot of trainers so they will learn when not to run again in a maiden or even a group race to protect a low mark.

Acca Pulco ran in a poor maiden in week 1 but this week made the running which didn't help. She is better than that but she was supposed to be tailed off in week 1 so had to run again to try and get her mark down. Need to get her down to around 90 Id say. She'd win the Ebor off that. She hates going right handed.

The form is hard to equate in a lot of races and some horses will be too high and others too low. If you really think your horse is too high then run them in handicaps to get their mark down. Thats what happens in real life.

Thanks Joe, sorry for being harsh, just a shock to the system when I saw 84. Keep up the good work.
