same here in fact i tried trialing without and they were running alot slower and it was harder finding out which was best what i will do is continue running pacemakers to determine the best and a few weeks b4 lge starts trial my best 15-20 without pacemakers to try and emulate the kge and pick from there |

For now we're talking of the fastest way to identify good horse a for breeding. Testing to find ONE horse to run in the league across different courses and conditions is something else we can discuss in another thread. This is simply about why running pacemakers in CK trialling is a good thing for breeding for the league. |

Don't think this is good for NH. It may be good for the flat but I don't use any pacemakers in my trials. Surely this will also always favour even or hold up horses and your handy horses will suffer |

I don't know about NH as I don't play that side of the game but I would be surprised if it was hugely different. The underlying game mechanics must be similar and I still think you find out which horses are better quicker. In fact given the inherently greater variability of NH I would argue the gains would be greater |

The only issue I have in the flat is that my horses are peaking at 5 or 6 because of my NH lines I think. But I'm doing well in NH with no pacemakers in any races. Even my flat string is doing ok. For league purposes the races I specialize in the 1m6 plus races hardly have any pace in the league. I get consistent results in my trials so it hasn't affected my league performances. If my horses do well in the graded races this week in NH it will show that there is more than one way to run trials. The advantage of no pacemakers is you can spot the handy horses more easily and they can be real monsters in the league especially in NH And that's how it should be. |

They will set a pace for any race up to about 11f and then start to flag if not before that. At some point you will breed horses that are faster than them (as in they run faster than these two right from the start) and when you do you'll be able to find your own pacemakers but at that stage I don't expect you'll need too much guidance as you'll have found a way that works for you. |
