Post Week 6 Weather
Across the Irish Sea in Country Kildare they have had some very dry and sunny days but also very wet days. The ground for the Derby and Oaks is expected to be good.

Back on this side of the water the weather in Newmarket has been glorious for the past week or so. Clerk of the course has already started watering with no rain forecast. They expect the ground to be just on the quick side of good. Compare to that to Newcastle where it just does not stop raining!!! Good old British Summer! They are facing a job to get the meeting to go ahead, though my sources tell me it will definitely be on.

Down in sunny Brighton the ground is expected to be quick. Up at Hamilton they have had mixed weather and the staff may have over watered before the rain came. It is now on the soft side of good. Sandown like most of the south have seen little rain ahead of the Eclipse meeting and the going is described as "perfect" racing ground. Warwick have had plenty of rain and earlier in the week it was expected to be heavy. However with no more rain forecast and some windy days ahead it is now likely the going will be soft. Folkestone has had similar weather to Brighton and the course is thought to be quite fast come their main flat meeting.

Up in sunny Redcar they have watered accordingly and the ground should be good proper racing ground.

Curragh - Good
Newmarket(July) - G/F
Newcastle - Heavy
Brighton - Firm
Hamilton - G/S
Sandown - G/F
Warwick - Soft
Folkestone - G/F
Redcar - Good

For the NH meetings Kempton have seen some rain unlike most of the south and the jumps course is described as G/S but with more rain forecast this is more likely to be soft come Boxing Day. Its much the same at Newbury nearby and up north at Wetherby.

In the west they have seen a lot of rain leaving Chepstow's Welsh National meeting waterlogged today but again the meeting will go ahead but it is expected to leave the ground heavy and make the National a real test. Cheltenham hasn't has quite as much rain and as the course drains so well the going will be G/S. As will Ffos Las who hold a minor meeting on the same day.

Back over to Ireland where for once the ground isn't heavy but Leopardstown will still be soft at best.

Kempton - Soft
Wetherby - Soft
Newbury - Soft
Cheltenham G/S
Chepstow - Heavy
Leopardstown - Soft
Ffos Las - G/S
