Who is working on this? There is a lot of discussion on the NH schedule but none on the Flat?

I think Gray has offered to do it

Matt did the last one but don't think he wants to be involved in the running of the lge

there has been some discussion about it in the end of season feedback

Do you fancy it Gray ???

I would like to see more of an Australian/Asian component to the schedule, and would be happy to work on a small schedule that could be combined with the European schedule. I was thinking of maybe 4-7 races each week.

Edit: Obviously while I would use the more recognisable races from this region, I would be happy to downgrade races to fit more in line with the European schedule (eg; lead up race like the Blue Diamond Preludes become a Mdn or low handicap instead of Group 3's, and the Blue Diamond becomes a Listed or Group 3 H'cap instead of a Group 1)

We need a group discussion rather than one person putting it together. Let the dust settle first and then formulate some ideas?

From running the league perspective races in a week need to be 30 or less. Also the schedule needs to match the database fields so I can import the schedule

I would cut it to 20 races a week, not just from a handicapping point of view  I think 30 races a week is way too much. You can only upload 20 horses so having 30 races a week is madness.

I don't really want to do this schedule as i have to finish the NH Schedule of with the new League 1d plus i am at the moment doing the final stuff 1.e altering race age column's putting in all G1 and G2 Novice Races so i can put the right code in the Schedule then leon as asked me to do two mini Schedule 13 races for Flat and 13 Races for Jumps to put into tom for trials.

But if no one wants to do it will do it no problem i just need to know what you want paul before starting out just a outline like leon give me for the jumps.

Personally I don't feel the schedule needs major changes. Matt did a great job so it will just require adding the extra week and replacing some of the handicaps after uploads with more maidens. Also there were some errors such as too many sprints in one week but these are all minor fixes

It worked pretty well.

There were some mistakes with the maidens in the first two weeks and also after the transfer window which were noted during the season.

There were also not enough G2/3 and listed races imo and we do have too many G1's.

The low band handicaps with small fields are a topic for discussion. I think for the very small trainers they wouldn't want these races changed as it is a great opportunity for them to get a win.

Thats a few things I can think of for now.

I think your schedule worked really well considering it was a rush to get it done
i agree there are enough trainers to fight out the low grade handicaps and there could be more of these trainers next season would be
harsh to chop these as you say a chance for these trainers to get wins

so really the current schedule only needs tweaking and we don't really need to start from scratch

I think Gray has enough on his plate with the NH sched

Matt do you fancy tweaking the flat schedule

if you don't want to be involved i understand

we still have a couple of months in hand

If matt would do that would be great i don't think i will have any runners next season i had 12 winners last season and i am finishing my flat career on a high lol and i would not want to mess around with the flat schedule as i wont be taking part in it i think someone who likes the flat side should do it.

After this week i will be focusing on the jumps breeding side to find a Gold Cup and National winner you lot can carry on with your Breaking 1mile records etc. i cant live with you big hitters on the flat so i wont waste my time just picking up minor handicaps like last season.

As one of the afore mentioned small trainers I thought the schedule was excellent. At the end of the season my highest rated horse was only 85 but I managed 5 wins with 5 different horses, 17 of the 20 picked up some prize money, and I had a lot of fun. My stable may be a little stronger for the next season but they will still be handicappers at the lower end I expect.

We probably need another race secretary as ideally there needs to be 3 at least. So if you keen to run races next season let me know
