Post subject:  Can new uploads be entered in grade 1 Jumps races?

Saw that there was a post that said new unraced horses may not be entered in group 1's on the flat, is this also the case for jumps, just looking at the fighting fifth and several unraced horses are entered and it is allowing me to enter my new uploads too is this right or will the horses be scratched?

thanks

Chris

As far as I'm aware this also applies to NH races, so you won't be able to enter newcomers into Grade 1 races.

Might be worth getting Leon to confirm though but fairly certain this is the case.

Thought this was the case might be worth highlighting this as 4 unraced horses are currently entered in the race

Also I want to enter lets go in the race - its a novice at the moment but I want to "give up" its novice status and enter it, I believed this was possible, is that right and how can I do it?

Thanks

My horse has a good chance to win the race, don't see why has to be withdrawn or the others either. Just let them run.

New horses coming in are likely to be better!

Was going to enter a newcomer myself but remembered it might not be allowed!

As far as I know NH horses will be allowed to take part in Grade 1 races but not group 1 races on the flat.

I think we all need some clarification on this matter.

Afaik unraced horses are not allowed to run in G1 races, flat and jumps, and any such horses will be scratched. Also, any hurdler switching to chases can't run in a G1 chase on its first start and vice versa.

Maybe Leon has decided to relax the jumps rules regarding G1s to give new uploads more opportunities but until I hear different, unraced horses in G1 races will be scratched.

Unless it is an upload error then a horse stays a novice for the whole season. You can enter it in non-novice handicaps, but not graded races.

I believe Leon has coded the SOPL site so that if a horse is eligible on the decs screen it will run, if it isn't on the decs screen then it isn't eligible to run.

Sorry about all the confusion. Horses can run in any race they can be declared for. If people have a big issue with this I can change the code, but at the moment in NH unraced horses can run in G1. On the flat they can't.

A novice stays a novice the whole season.

There is only one situation at present where a horse will be scratched. A horse cant run in a chase or hurdle handicap if it is not run in a chase or hurdle
