Post 2 year old tips
Hi fellas,

I'm fairly new to the game and I'm still in my first career which has been going a fair few years. I've had a few group 1 successes, and a few good horses but nothing special to date. But I tend to struggle with getting anything out of my 2 year olds other than a maiden success followed by failing at a higher grade. With my new 2 year olds, one or two look fairly decent (to my inexperienced eyes) so I thought I'd share a few with you so you could give me a hand with what you would be looking to do with them in terms of race entries, training and where you'd hope the horse to end up.

Another thing I've been wondering - what impact does age have on breeding and what is the best age, and does it differ for 5f and 1m4 for example?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Afraid it is just a case of starting low and building up.

I usually start two year olds off in maiden races.

If they win I will try a conditions race and then a group 3.

I only run two year olds a maximum of five times per season.

I would start your first horse off in 7f maiden. The second in 6f maiden and third in 5f maiden and take it from there.

Hard to say where they will end up.
