Post Set Schedule For Top Flat Horses
Obviously this changes with distance but is there a set schedule you race your top class horses in?

I've never been a big flat race fan so never really had a good solid save but finally got one going and feel i'm just picking random races for my horses when i'm sure there should be a "plan"

Is there a list anywhere of the races I should be running my top rated horses in and when they are?

At the minute i'm trying to breed good 1m, 1m2f and 1m4f horses. I'm not doing this for the league, just for me to enjoy it and then maybe in the future so i've not been transferring horses between games to create the best.

Thanks as usual for any good advise anyone can offer me :) it is very appreciated!

I'm not hugely experienced with all the top races but for those distances with a 3yo I look for guineas (sometimes Irish guineas too, derby, eclipse, sussex stakes, juddmonte, irish champion stakes, st leger (if it wins guineas and derby), arc, champions stakes, something at breeders cup. For fillies I will probably throw in a couple of fillies/mares races instead.

As a 4yo up I go for the same races really except obviously instead of triple crown, I'll look at dubai world cup and the coronation cup, king george etc.

I don't go for every race but those are the high profile ones I can think of.

As a rough guideline mine go -

1m -

2yo - 5/6f Maiden - wins goes to Ascot (Norfolk/Coventry/Albany etc)/Loses goes handicapping or conditions races (DBS/Wetherby's etc). Then either Flying Childers or something along those lines.

3yo - If it's a group winner at 2, I go straight for 1000/2000 Guineas and then Irish Guineas or St James/Coronation. After that Prix Jean Prat for 3yo and then steps up to 3yo+ (Sussex/Falmouth etc). If not a group winner at 2 then same route just goes to Craven or Nell Gwyn before Guineas.

4yo+ - Lockinge - Queen's Mile - Sussex - there are a few in between here such as Falmouth/Matron, can't remember any of the open races - QEII - Breeders Cup Mile

1m2f

2yo - 6/7f Maiden - Listed/G3 race over 7f (Acomb/Prestige/Superlative/Star/Winkfield etc) - Then either Dewhurst/Moyglare/Rockfel over 7 or if it stays May Hill/Fillies Mile/Royal Lodge over 1m then if it's good enough Breeders Juvenile races.

3yo - Either triple crown route - Kentucky Derby/Preakness/Belmont
French Derby - Derby Trial (Dante or other) - Prix Du Jockey Club
English Derby - As above but Derby instead of Prix Du Jockey Club if stays
Either route normally leads to - Eclipse/Juddmonte/Champion Stakes/Breeders Cup Classic - This is the same route as 4yo but with addition of Dubai World Cup and/or Hong Kong races/Irish Champion/Prince Of Wales

1m4f -

2yo - 1m maiden - Royal Lodge/Fillies Mile or if stamina too high Zetland or Criterium

3yo - Normally Derby Trial/Chester Vase - Derby - Irish Derby - King George - Arc - Breeders Cup

4yo - Sheema Classic - Coronation Cup - King George - Arc - Breeders Cup (Maybe Hong Kong/Champions Day/Arc Trial day i.e. Prix Vermeille)

Just a rough guide of how I do it which hopefully points you in the right direction, there is no set list of course but this is the routes I have learned and normally use! Good Luck.

Wow thanks for that mate! Very detailed and gives me a good idea :)

I will try and let everyone know any progress I have in a horse competing at this level!

Pretty much the same as Nick but for my top 1m 4f horses I give them 1 run as a 2yo over 1m 2 (maiden).

Then i usually run them in a 1m 3f handicap around March before The derby/oaks trials at Chester/Lingfield. Then onto Epsom followed by the Irish Derby/Oaks. For Fillies I usually run them in the Yorkshire Oaks before a tilt at the Arc. For colts they go to Ascot for the King George before the arc.
