Post Debuting 2 year olds (US version)
Hey, here is a question seeking advice on debuting two year olds in the US version of the game. Many of my two year olds are bred to go at about 1m1f-1m5f. In the US game, all the debut races are between 5 and 6 furlongs, and they don't begin to increase to a mile until June or July--and any racing opportunities beyond 1 mile are practically nonexistent until the three year old schedule. But the problem is that many of my three year olds are showing up green when I refuse to race them as two year olds--any advice on this?

Nothing. You have to run them over a shorter distance or pitch them at a lower level so they can win despite being green.

There is nothing wrong with them getting beat due to being green. Give them one or two runs over 7f or 1m in Jun/July then maybe aim at the Breeders races if they are good enough. This is how things are in real life I believe. If you are breeding horses for longer distances I would recommend playing the UK game.

Depends on the horse I guess. A few stayers (1m4f+) will start with a very short stamina bar that will very quickly in 2/3 races increase. Those you can race at 5/6f and they will be fine. The majority of 1m4f horses will have a stamina bar that's at least half full and in these you're unlikely to win 5/6f races and you're looking for 1m+ races. You either take the hit and not win a race or have to find a suitable race as a two year old or run them at 3.

As for horses running green/benefit from the run it's just a trait of some horses. Not sure if it's passed on. However once you get a good breeding programme going you should be able to run green and still win the race even at group 1 level.

I just race my two year olds over the course of the season. Most of them have a shorter distance bar during the early races so they can go that distance. If they end up not being able to hit the pace for that distance then I try to race them in training against one another to keep them fresh and wait until the mile races.

Does doing a race on the gallops at home solve greenness in any way? I know it shouldn't, but just wondered if it does?

It's a bit of a problem in the us version because having horses that are stayers 1m4 or more are problem horses because there are not enough race's for them to run in, any age. If i was u i would add( make up) races for stayers, if u got a dirt stayer then u have no real races to run in apart from the breeders cup marathon, and there are only afew turf races for them. In my US game i've added some races for stayers to run in, it makes it more intresting because u can only breed horse's upto a mile and 6 furlongs in the US version and there are only afew horses breed by the computer at that distance. It makes it intresting because u never know whos going to be a stayer in u game. Its the only way to go if u want longer breed horses.
