 jumps games
Despite preferring jumps or flat racing, in SO I just can't seem to get the hand of the jumps game, I do the same as when I first started flat racing and get money buy the horses but in the jumps game they never seem to reach anywhere near what the potential is. Am I running them to often to soon?
I normally start them running in bumper races for their first season between 3 and 4 year olds normally giving them 3 /4 races that season, I then take them down the novice hurdle root at 4-5 then either keeping hurdling or take them novice chasing but for some reason I just can't get them to reach full potential. I know not all horses do but out of about 29 I've found not 1 has so am I doing something wrong and starting them to soon in races ?
Any advice would be welcomed

 Re: jumps games
There aren't many in the jumps game. They are 1 in a million. I'd transfer some of your flat horses who like soft ground into the jumps game and start like that. Potential isn't as important for staying horses, so don't worry if they don't get full potential. Eventually I'm sure you'd get some with full potential, but I think it is better to transfer your flat horses in and start like that.

Cheers, I take it. Need to find the ones with low deter action potential as well as I've found in past when I tired to transfer from flat that they start deteriorating around 6yo or will this eventually breed out

I don't know. Nearly all of my homebreds are better at 5+ on the flat and NH. I assume if you breed with horses who were better when they got older you'd breed it out, yeah.

Also is it just age that makes them determinate or amount of races? Just trying to figure out if I am racing to much to young

 Re: jumps games
I love the jumps as well, The game i'm currently playing is UK combined Flat/NH, I started off by buying decent rated horses off the flat and sending them hurdling, Managing to land the odd coup, Still very difficult to get a G1 performer though, Thats where breeding comes in, My flat horses are all 1m2f to 1m6f performers and i aim at only having horses good enough to win G1 races at 2 and 3, If my horses absolute potential bar is only 55% full i send them out to grass until they are 5 years olds and start them in NH flat races, If they have higher absolute potential but can't win a maiden at 2 then i put them out to grass until they are 4 years olds and start them in hurdles. I have yet to have a good NH horse come up for sale at auction.

Some of mine are still improving at 6, and some don't start deteriorating until they are 8-10. But then it is a sudden decline, it all depends upon your breeding..
