I must have got it confused with the ormonde stakes- i thought the vase was run over nearly 1m5  and that the dee stakes was the main derby trial  better pay more attention to the chester meeting next year then!

It is run over a little more than 1m4f but it's close enough, the vase is the main Derby Trial and the Dee is an add on one over 1m2f. The Ormonde is over 1m5f for older horses.
