Post Breeding to max potential
Hi there,

I' ve been playing this game for a while, started with Starters Orders 5 and bought 6 in October last year.
Didn't have that much time to play in winter, but started again this year and dedicated a lot of time to it, also reading the breeding tips on the forum. But I still have a problem I already discovered in SO 5 and can't seem to find a solution to it still, so I'd be grateful for any tip you have for me

With the help of a nice gamebred with a 98% full potential bar I managed to improve my lines a great deal, but now, 20 generations later, the potential bar of my best offspring still doesn't exceed 98% with the majority having a 96% bar once they turn 4 years old. The best 2year olds never had more than 89%, also increasing to 96-98% when they are 4

Now I'm seriously wondering.... am I making the mistakes while breeding or is there any secret I didn't discover yet? I even made a list with all the important attributes of my stallions and broodmares and it seems that the attributes of an offspring are always somewhere inbetween the ones of its parents, so that makes me wonder if it is even possible to get a 100% potential offspring out of 98% potential parents?

I would really appreciate any help from experienced players :)

By the sound of it u hit the wall, sometimes the horses will improve but after u breed a few season's and they have not improved then they wont get better. There is no quick fix. U just got to find the 1, it will only take one horse but finding that one is never easy. Just keep breeding with the horses in the breeding barn and u will find it. I'd say look for the horses that are between 5F-1m2 horses.

This is the best gamebred I've every seen but no matter who I throw at him or his of spring's he will never get a full potential 3yo, but he's helped my 2m+ horses.

Thanks for replying :)

So that means I should stop breeding my 96-98% lines together and better start breeding with everything I find in the breeding barn?
Does that mean it is not possible to get a 100% potential out of my 98% horses? You definitely need to find that 100% gamebred?
This seems to be a very difficult task, as no matter how good the external horses in my breeding barn were rated, they never produced anything halfway decent. I found the 98% potential gamebred in the 2 year olds auction at the beginning of a season, this was pure coincidence. I did hope he'd get me the 100% potential once I've bred with him for a few generations :(

See this horse she's a two year old, the mum Dazzle is my horse but the dad Sound Stage is a game bred horse. Even after all this time a game bred was still useful in my breeding. If u see a good horse in the breeding barn then make sure u breed with them because u might hit the jackpot. If I think a horse looks interesting in the breeding barn I will save the game so I can go back to it later on and see if the horses are any good.

I've got Salt Lake saved so I can go back to him at any time.

always breed to most expensive non owned in barn
doing that has improved my lines massively recently
most are poor but you do find the odd one which will take your lines further

Thanks to all who replied :)
I've really been close to giving up again, but right after my posting yesterday there came a gamebred into my game that kept beating several of my really decent horses. I followed the stallion and hoped for him to come into the breeding barn. With 7 years he was still running and beating my 140 rated 4 year old mare three out of four times the ran together. Again I hoped for him to show up in the barn next season when my staff emailed me right before the end of the season, telling me he's going to auction. I headed there and got him for nearly 8 mill.
And he turned out to be a 100% potential horse
Not all of his potential was realised, but I think he can give my lines some serious improvement.
Nevertheless I keep wondering why this guy has been so successful, because other than the full potential (which has not even been fully realized) he doesn't have the most impressive stats, I have a lot of horses with better stats which he has kept beating throughout his career.
Now I'm hoping for real good offspring, I just got his first crop into the barn, nothing spectacular there, but maybe they just need a few races to show off :)

Here's the guy:

thats a nice horse perfect consistency alot to like about his stats

also he will be a fantastic Nation Hunt sire he has great jumping ability and speed could well produce national hunt beasts
maybe something you are not looking for but would still make major use of him with your flat horses

P.S NEVER give up keeping going to the well and you do hit water eventually

Actually I haven't even noticed his jumping ability, shame on me.
This is a real good reason to dive into the hurdle races. I've done so briefly last year but stopped due to a lack of time. At the moment I'm trying to find some time to see how his second crop will turn out :)
