Post subject: | What's the Difference Between Class and Group? |
I'm looking at declarations and then also race form books. I notice that some list Groups and others list Class and some both. For example, one of my horses ran in a race and the form book says Class 2, Group 3. I believe Group 1 is the highest, next Group 2, etc. But what does the Class mean, if a Group is also listed? Is the "Class" a sub-classification? What's the difference between Group and Class, or what is the definition of each? Thank you! |

I don't think there should be class 2, group 3. All group races should be class 1 so this could be a fault in the schedule. Group races, listed races and feature handicaps are all class 1, the highest class. Class 2 is next and includes non-feature 0-110 handicaps, class 3 is 0-100 handicaps, class 4 is 0-90 (and maidens?), 5 is 0-80, 6 is 0-70 and 7 is selling races and claimers (I think, haven't looked at the game for reference though) So group races and listed are generally for those who have ratings too high for handicaps with G1 being the pinnacle. The other races represent the level of racing in the game. It is a scale where the higher the number, the lower class your horse is. The one you choose will depend on the rating of your horse and what you think it can achieve. |
