Just delved back into the game for a little bit. The lack of movement on the league front and the unwieldiness of the CK have left me not so enthused about playing my favorite game. *hint hint get it straightened out please* So I decided to trial my horses to see who is my best 3yo's at 1m2f at Epsom. My final trials gave me this... ![]() Of this group Sole Heir System was easily the best BUT I lost her in a barn fire (read - forget to back up her file after an import). So of these horses I have settled on breeding these two... ![]() The stats above are what are most important to me. Purple color is top percentile amongst my pool horses and green is above average. Best case scenario is the offspring end up retired to the game pool with the stats line shown as *best*. I won't know how they do at Epsom until the CK because I will race them in my US schedule. Wish me luck. ![]() |

While waiting the two years for the offspring to come of age I had great fun with this 5yo gamebred given to me at the beginning of my game... ![]() He had a lethal late kick that always had him contending for the winners share. Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed. Made almost 2 million and sold for just over 2 million. Not bad for a unremarkable looking horse stats wise. Now to the offspring of my Derby breds - first one is okay with the exception of that horrible realized potential compared to absolute potential. I can't be bothered with potential bars like that. I will race him this year to bide the time and then dump him. ![]() |

The second born is much better. Should be a keeper. ![]() |

The above horse Galaxian Feeling was renamed Sinistar and became a powerhouse. Won 13 of 15 starts with the two defeats being running green in his second start and missing by the slimmest of margins in his third start. He then went on to win the rest of his races including the Triple Crown and retiring with a 140 rating. He performs decently against the Epsom Derby trial horses but does not win any trials. A useful type. ![]() The stats mix has him sporting mostly the low end numbers. The full sister about to start her 3yo campaign has much better stats including a 95 potential at 3 which is great. ![]() |

And the full sister was better. Retired undefeated and also a triple crown winner. Rated 140 and she can consistently win the Derby trials against the others so this breeding experiment was indeed a success. Her brother could get 12 furlongs but she couldn't. ![]() She got most of the high end stats numbers. ![]() Stick a fork in this Epsom Derby breeding foray because it's done. A rousing success with what I always aim for - a keeper stallion and a keeper mare. |
