Re: Starting a jumps game
There are a couple of ways to solve money problems.
The first is to save the game and then go to the races and note the winners. Exit the game without saving (ctrl alt del ) then restart and bet on the winners.
Although it's not always the same horses that win so you might have to exit a few times to get enough money.
Another option is to transfer your best horses from the flat and sell them, you can do this as the game progresses if you still have money problems.
If you don't fancy either of these then when you start a new game check the stats of your horses, if the look rubbish quit and start again until you have
at least one horse with a good potential bar that you can go racing with.
Sell the rest and buy the breeding barn, buy a cheap stallion and cheap mares and put then straight in the barn.
They don't have to be any good as you are just going to sell the foals without racing them for regular cash each season.
Once get get enough cash look at the game horses in the breeding barn and breed with them to improve your bloodstock.
As for buying horses it's a bit of a lottery but check the weekly auctions and look for something that hasn't had many runs and you think may have been running over the wrong trip.
Try them over hurdles and fences to see what suits best, and race them in juvenile or novice races if possible, if they can't compete at that level then they won't be much good.
3 and 4 yr olds usually run short of their specified trip get further as they get older, sometimes a horse that should 3m or 3m4f can get 4m or further.
I find horses are at their peek at 5 or 6yo but for national horses 8 9 or 10yo seems best.
A fast jumper is always good to get in your breeding.
A horse that falls quite regularly is not
Hope that's of some help, enjoy the game.
