In my flat game I never put horses out to field as I want to race them as 2yo I have just started a jump game and I don't race my horses until they are 4yo, so I put all 2yo and 3yo out to the field. Am I right in assuming horses don't recieve any training while in the field? If I keep my 2yo and 3yo jumpers in the main part of the game they will receive training. Does this do more good for the horses than in the field? I have tried repeating the same 2 seaons with the same 10 2yo and 3yo horses, one time going to the field and another time staying in main stable. I don't see any significant difference in the horses using either method, buy my horses are not up to much at the start. I was wondering what other people do. Would I be better off trying to give my 3yo jumpers a few races, say in NH Flat races? |

I only send my staying 3yo jumpers out to field I keep my other 3yo's for bumpers and 3yo Juvenile hurdles I don't think sending them to the field makes any difference I only send because its easier to sort when entering in races I do think running your Juveniles helps the potential in some Juveniles. I send my staying 2yo's out to the paddock until 3yo so they can get suitable distances - they all seem fairly strong in their first race or two. The only problem I have is that to get a 3yo up for the Melbourne Cup I need a horse with a fair rating which can be hard to get for a 3yo who really needs 3000m plus and two and a half months to get it. |
