Ok I transferred some good flat cast offs into a jumps game (England) to get a better jumps stable up and running for the next league season. Got lucky as I made some good coin selling a couple of my transfer horses and was able to buy a horse in the Thursday sales that had won the Grand National ![]() So straight to the breeding barn for him! So a question or two - what age should I start racing my bred horses? 3 or 4yo????? Do I send them through novice class first? What is the usual par for course in racing Hunt horses from scratch? for 2 milers i race them at 4 & 5 and export them on December 31st while still 5yo For 3 mile + I add a year export at 5 & 6 though for 4 milers i start at 6 and export at 9 with your 2 milers go the Juvenile route try and avoid overseas races they are very hard to win then in second season go big with them in second season you also have the of the novice chase route too Hope it helps Doug |

When I get a new crop of 3yo's who Op trip is 2miles I always look at the potential bar if its pretty high I will use 2 or 3 of them to go through the Juvenile hurdle Route Doug with the big 4yo juvenile Hurdles at Cheltenham March, Aintree April, and Punchestown end of April has the targets to aim for I will use the better handicapped horse come March to run in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap and the main Juvenile in the Truimph. I will also use another 2 or 3 Juvenile's to in run NH Flat Races (Bumpers) again aiming for the big NH Flat Races at the Main Meetings I will put the rest of the 3yo's out to Grass until the following season. Has the 4yo's in the next Season I will run them in Novice Hurdle Races if I got a lot at the same Distance will look at Jump Potential and decide to try some in Novice Chases I don't run Juvenile 3yo in races over 2m 4f or 3miles has in the Online league there is no just 4yo races over the distance of 2m 1f so if you are breeding for the league you only need to export horses at 4yo up to 2m 1f and this will make sure your not spending hours of trialing for Juveniles in the League which are 4yo only races with horses that are 2m 4f Juveniles which will be Novice Hurdlers and might be better horses at 5yo. Have recently done precisely the same thing, created a jumps game separate from my main game which gets feed by three general breeding games. Very much trial and error but as of now I am running them all at 3yo one or two races only as I have gotten a few 'horse ran very green and will improve on this' comments that go hand in hand with potential increases. I then run them fully at 4yo mainly so I have and idea what they are good at for Cheltenham at 5yo. I export and trial them at 5yo in the following season, as a lot of my flat cast offs that seeded this game start their downward cycle at 5, those that show potential, read win g1's, I keep and race through to 7yo presently exported each year to trial, my first decent 4m horse is 6yo so if he performs later I shall likely is keep to 8+. I also export all my best flat horses at 5yo, from my main flat game, to trail for the older flat races, to date a lot then go onto smash my jump breed horses in jump trials even though they have awful jump stats. Though I am dubious, I rarely seem to fall in trials, but in the league the same sort of horses fell and unseated frequently. Basically I am on the luck and flaw approach ![]() |
