My Game has become a name thief

never really noticed this before but you can see 2 gamebreds that have names clearly used for some of my homebreds and in the same race

Been happening for ages in all mine. Soon as you use a name it starts to appear in game horses, expect they are added to the db then accessed as part of a random generator program.

My game is now about 80 seasons long and it has been happening now for a while - I think it is the horses/names I just retire or the few I sold earlier on.

I made use of this to amuse myself. Since I am just starting out, much of what I breed I sell. When I look at it and name it, if I am just going to dump it in auction I rename the foals to something that sounds bad, unlucky or just sad. I started so that I'd know if I'd sold too many marginally good ones and the game was beating me with my rejects. So if I lost in 3yo Handicaps to say, Wide Load or Slow Thinker, then I could smack myself for having sold it.
However, I did race Deaf And Dumb and forgot to rename before I tested that one. He ended up being not too bad for a first generation bred too. So sometimes it backfires.
I just redid my barns, and now I can't wait to see in 20 or so seasons what the names are racing against me.

Little off tack, but I stopped auctioning mine ages ago as I got sick of them turning up 6/7 years later as G1 hurdle and chasers The retire from game option seems to provide adequate compensation. Josh

Yeah, I know I'm the peon here. But I'm an easily amused peon, so there is that.
