Hi,

I have notice a number of times when a horse doesn't win but its ratings increase significantely.

For example, I entered mare in Group 3 Dubai race off 121 rating. She came 3rd beat 8L by 2 horses with 68 and 72 rating, why would mine get an increase to 131 rating for coming 3rd in a Group 3???

This can't be correct?

The horse had only ever won 1 x Group 3 in its career.

You see horses being raised 10lbs for being thumped by vastly inferior horses all the time. It's not at all unusual to see the horse that wins eight pounds better off with the one it's just beaten.
A combination of that, and that some AI horses are seemingly able to run every week without ever burning out, means some horses get very a lofty rating while scarcely ever running a place.

If you run in a foreign race then you will get a higher rating. This is to raise the ratings so they can become runners in worldwide group races.

Its races abroad. I had a 2yo win a maiden and group 3 in South Africa and ended up with a rating of 120.

I got a G3 winner with 124, a multiple G1 winner with only 121.
