One extra question I have - why does the horse rating not go back up to 130, but stays at 129 recently? |

A very astute purchase looking at his record, and one I would use for breeding future horses with to improve the breeding line, hopefully he'll pass on some good genes to his progeny to take them to the next level of competitiveness. Personally I would retire him now, send him to stud and breed him to as many mares are you possibly can, and hopefully in two or three seasons you'll get through a few nice offspring to continue your line through. The reason why your rating stays at 129 could be down to a few things. The quality of opposition faced in his last couple of runs, the times of the race and guessing as he is getting on he won't be as good as he was at three and four, despite continuing to win races. Hope this helps! |

Thanks for the advice. I know absolutely nothing about horse racing tbh, im a greyhound man myself. What age would you generally retire a horse to the breeding barn if they are any good? Kind regards, Lee |

I'm guessing you are playing a flat only game? I will race horses at 2, 3, and finally 4 before retiring them to breed with at the end of their 4yo career (but before this I will trial them at three to see if they make the cut in my race builder). Those that aren't good enough get sold/retired at 3, and the cycle continues. |

yep just the flat game. OK, I have horses still winning big Group 1 races at 7 and 8 yo ![]() I will retire then gracefully. Silly question for the league, when is the best time to export a horse to be maximum impact in race builder? |

I export all my horses in August after 31 days rest, sometimes I will increase this (upto 41 days for long distance stayers as they sometimes need a little longer to return to maximum ability). Some people export them early in the season, and then again late in the season and you can get some horses which peak in the early months and others later on, but I simply don't have time to do both and have good enough horses to go through just once a year, whilst running the risk of losing the odd gem along the way (I've sold many). ![]() |
