A 2yo colt has come through and I'm interested in his stats. I know these are not gospel but I am intrigued when I compare him to another newcomer.

On first looks, I'll enter Meatook into my usual pattern of a horse of this nature. A maiden at 2yo over 10f, they usually appear towards the end of the season, following which the stamina should go up and I'll look at the 12f big money races, hopefully.

Looking at Charm Tree though, with his B/I saying 1.1f I'd expect less stamina. Coupled with the speed, I think I can get a good 2yo mile career out this one.

Any observations? Early days I know. I'll be off to the guiness shop soon so hopefully wont come home tonight and balls it up!

I would say it depends on the relative distances of the sire or mare. If one is say 12 furlongs and the other a miler then your offspring will be one or the other. The game doesn't tend to make it's own distances up, so, invariably the offspring of homebreds tend to prefer the distance preferred by one of the parents.

May I just commend you on the naming of Meatook. Genius.
