Post Plan for new 2yos
Hi guys, not been playing more than a few days now but got some breeding going and just wonder if anyone could tell me what they think and how they'd approach things with the horses i have.

So far i think i've made a lot of mistakes with which races i put horses in, trying to win massive races on their 2nd run and things like that so just wondered how much of a more considered approach you'd take with these 3. Master T is the best horse i haven't retired to stud but you can see in the second shot the pattern of races i've been putting him in. Would anyone have done it differently?

Any advice/comments gratefully accepted!

Master T wins are over 1m 4f and 1m 5f so might try and see if he gets 1m 6f irish leger or york ebor also Master T is a gelding so you cant retire him to stud.

Hey pinball

firstly i'm going to start with Master T as to me he looks as though he wants 1m6f judging by his stats bar and his best runs being at 1m5f so maybe just a step up in trip should improve him.

Second Russian Rocker and Fair Russian look like stayers so i would only run them in 1m2f races at the end of the year.

3rd Maccanlis will run well over 5,6f to start with and you should be able to get his maiden win at one of the distances before leading onto listed and group races i would probably run him 4 times this year first a maiden 2nd royal ascot if he wins 3rd and 4th in a Group 1 if he loses try to bag a listed win and wait for him to improve into a miler next year.

Yeah i know he'd gone on a run of 4 uninspiring runs and the training screen said could benefit so i went for it. Thanks for the advice, will put him in those races and see what happens.

@daveyboy

cheers for that :) I've been putting young horses in a fair few more races each season so i'll try cutting it down to 4 and not overwork them. When you say wait for him to improve to a miler, i've got a 3yo who's best trip is over 2m2f, didnt race in first season cus couldnt find a long enough race! Based on your comment there though, the horse wouldn't have been a 2m2f horse in the first season and would need to improve to eventually be able to stay that distance, so i could have fired at say a 1m2f or 1m4f race quite happily yeah?

Many thanks :)

I know it states that the horse may need gelding but i never geld mine and i must say when i did do this when i started playing the game it made no difference to the ones i gelded might be wrong but i wouldn't geld all your colts you could lose a good bloodline for breeding if you geld it at two and then have a superstar on your hands.

Not sure why you gelded him. Ignore what the head lad says about gelding unless the jockey tells you the horse didn't settle. I would put don't trail, challenge earlier over 1m4f and just normal instructions for longer distances. Personally I would have retired him to stud and covered some really good mares with him and got the breeding going. I would wait until next season with all the longer distance 2yos and try the one with no stamina over 6f and see how it does.

This - although the one with no stamina I'd try over 5f. But by the time the National Sprint comes in late May the horse may want 6f or further.

yeah everyone here seems to have hit the nail on the head!

Maccanlis the 2yo filly won the 5f Queen Mary at Ascot in June and then the g1 6f Phoenix Stakes at Curragh. Finished 4th in the BC Juvenile Fillies at the end of the season over 1m as stamina appears to have improved but jockey said was probably a furlong too far.

I realise now why i gelded Master T... because i'm a fool. I moved him to 1m6 as suggested, he picked up a 2nd in a group 2 at that distance before winning the g1 Irish Field St Ledger. He's rated 126 yet in my wisdom, i gelded him. Well played me :(

Thanks for the advice guys :D
