Post subject:  Breeding Mares

I am up to my 20th season and are running a sprinting stable. Just got to this new season and all my Breeding Stallions and Mares distances have changed.
i.e a mare that ran and won at 5f now shows 7f by its best distance. Which now means that all my milers are showing 1m-3 or 4 furlongs.

I no longer have a sprinting stable and its just ruined my pleasure on this particular game.

I have had the Starters Orders since the very first one and have never had this problem in the breeding barn before. Does any one else have this and can it be fixed? Thanks.

same as race horses the older they get the further they get

i also had major problems with this when building my league sprint team had to start again quite a few times

had a 5yo mare 1st couple years she was 5f then went up to 6f then 7f

all i can recommend is breed with 5f game horse in breeding barn at least you will get a 6f sprinter

i think the problem comes from coding in the game
for example a mare or colts adverage best distance seem to accelerate in the barn

it should be that there ad best distnce should stick in the breeding barn it should freeze but unfortunatly it does not

I could agree with this, but why wait until the mares have been in the breeding barn about 10 years, it seems that when my mares that I bred get to around 13/14/15 i.e. 19/20 seasons then all of a sudden they all go up in distance.

I think this happens to all of us- it's annoying, I agree, however I don't think it makes all that much difference in breeding. If a mare got 5f when she was racing, regardless of her breeding indicator, then continue to plan her foals based on what distance she won over, rather than what the game tells you is now her preferred distance. It is irritating, I tend to forget what my mares won over and go by the BI and end up breeding them to longer distance stallions than I would like. Hopefully this won't happen in SO5.

So, you do still have a sprinting stable, it just doesn't look like one anymore!

i guarentee you will keep getting 7f horses been there done that
unless you cover with 5f sprinters you will end up with 7f offspring that wont stay a mile or wont be quick enough to win a group race
over 6f

played loads and loads of seasons building my sprint team for the lge prob over 100 seasons just on sprinters so i no the score by now i think

End up with loads of them 7f horses and 1m3f, 1m3f not so bad sometimes they make good 1m2f horse!

Paul, 100 seasons just on sprinters? Do you work on each distance individual then? I mean do not mix up a game with all different types of breeding just stick to one distance for that game your playing? Does that make sense?

Sounds like an awful lot of work mate, SO5 will be done at a slow pace to enjoy and ill still end up with about the same quality of horses that i do every season now i reakon.

So what do you look for in game horses then PJR (if you dont mind me asking!)?

Do you look purely at times at Royal Ascot like I have read somewhere on here before?

Generally if I breed any of my horses to game horses they tend to be quite poor and I would say roughly 1 in 50 would qualify as a potential league horse.

Post subject:  Re: Breeding Mares

when building a league team i used game horses that ran quick times at ascot does not have to be royal ascot
king george fillies mile etc i check the history and if anything runs well above standard i breed if they are
in the barn

I know it must be fraustrating.... But compared to real life I am not sure I know many mares that have popped out 13+ foals consistantly. Maybe their telling you they have had enough lol
