Has anyone noticed the current race engine in Starters Orders 5 gives front runners and pace horses a massive advantage? I've only started breeding a few horses today after spending a while customizing the game, but despite breeding with the best I can get my hands on I've noticed far too many races being stolen from the front, giving those which race from off the pace little to no chance. Anyone else noticed this? I think it needs to be tweaked a little to balance things out. |

I agree, a lot of my class horses win from the front but I have had one who absolutely fly's home in game from the back, not tested it within the builder yet. |

So far I have had horses being dominant with both hold up and front running styles as well as level pace also. I will agree that the 'race handy' types seem to be the more consistent though as they never get short of room. |

That being said it was pretty much like this for me on SO4 also with the handier types being the safer choice. |

I agree, although in SO4 one generally did better with even pace and race handy horses I think there is an even bigger bias towards front runners in this version, right now all my decent horses like to be close to the pace so I'm not too bothered. But in general it would be good if you had a good chance of winning no matter the tactics. |

I understand what your saying but horses need cover etc and you see it every single day in real racing with quirky horses or those needing to be held up so I guess thats why it doesn't bother me as much. Basically it is what it is, a front runner type if good enough wont have to pass traffic but a hold up type will nearly always have to navigate its passage and be at a natural disadvantage even if its a world beater. |

All my best horses come from off the pace... I feel like I'm missing out. Of course, if you guys want to keep setting up races for my lot I won't complain ![]() |

Just handy horses at the moment, nothing forcing the pace. Jockey AI seems better for threading their way through. Just need some decent mares... |
