Post subject:  Filling up the gap between realised and absolute potential?

I just wanted to know how you guys go about training your 2 year olds. I've been struggling to fill in the absolute potential (dark green bar). It's been hit-and-miss for me so far, I've managed to so for those juveniles where there wasn't much of a difference between the light and dark green bars, but it's been a real struggle to fill in those with a big gap, irrespective of how many races I ran them in.

So, I'm just wondering whether anyone has an actual strategy? Is fulfilling the horse's potential based on their number of races, their performances, gallops or an other factors? Or horses with huge gaps to fill in just hopeless, or do they eventually fulfill their potential as 4/5 year olds?

Thanks

Some of the horses only hit the full stats as 5 year olds. Some I never manage to get them to perform properly. I bring them on slowly. Race them at lower levels and string a succession of wins together. They only compete in group races towards the end of their career. Once they have won a group 1 the bar becomes dark green. Although sometimes a new light green bar appears with increased potential
