This is really strange. Dam is a G1 winning sprinter and sire is a G1 winning miler. But the horse gets much further. I have more results like this. Quite a lot actually. Can't seem to get any sprinters. The frustrating thing is my stable is full of 10 and 12 furlong horses. Has anyone else experienced this?? ![]() ![]() ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

The stallion's average best is 1m3f so not too surprising really. Even if it only won feature races over 1m1f and 1m doesn't meant it didn't get 1m3f or even 1m4f. For me doing that pairing I would have expected a 1m or a 1m1f horse; not a sprinter. Check your sprinters' page, I bet her stamina has increased, if it has you should get some REALLY good milers when breeding her with true mile stallions. If you want a sprinter you need to breed 5f-5f or 5f-6f, I've found 6f-6f has varying results with many of the offspring wanting further than 6f, but not getting 7f or being 7f-1m horses. |

You could be right. I made a note of My Quite Music performances during my game. And was happy when he appeared in the breeding barn as he was group 1 placed over 6f and unplaced over 1m4. I assumed that the race performances would override his average best distance. His best performances were all over 1 mile. I guess this is not the case then. Although in previous versions of SO. The in game performance was the deciding factor. Happy with the result overall as Crowds was a top juvenile winning group races over 5 and 6 furlongs. At 3 she won the guineas and as you can see at 4 she now needs 11/12 furlongs I'm breeding group 1 5 and 6 furlong juveniles but I just wish some of them would stay sprinters. I'm finding that I'm winning 6f group 1's with 7 furlong horses and even milers of late. The comments are always they need further, but when I step them up in distance they don't win and actually perform poorly. I have started to ignore the comments and base entries on their performance. Is this just my stable or others finding these issues with sprinters. |

The detailed stats might give a bit more of a clue. Best distance I think is influenced by a combination of extra speed rating, cruising speed and stamina in my experience in SO5. Feel free to post the detailed stats and I might have an explanation of sorts. |

Supercat in reply to if you want a sprinter breeding guide. Below is a horse out of a 5f sprinter and 6f sprinter. From the stats you can see the horse needs 7f. Every race over the 6f the jockey stated the horse needed further. Again this is not isolated incident. I have bred loads of 5/6 ect but keeping getting strange results milers and 7f horses and even 1 or 2 10 furlong horses. Is this just my stable?? The breeding for the horse goes back two generations and every horse in the breeding line is either 5 or 6 furlongs ![]() ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

No that looks normal to me. Try 5f-5f. I've having weird results where I'm getting full dark green potential bars and stats better than anything I've ever seen and then they never really realise their potential. Sprinters have always been hard to breed, just keep trying. |

Akhc Here are the detailed stats for Peace in the Valley ( The breeding mare in question. Her potential bar was 90% but she has been in the barn for 5 seasons now so it has gone down. ) I have uploaded Crowds as well as not sure which one you wanted. ![]() ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Looking at your horses, it doesn't look like you're having much problem winning sprint races... Ignore the comments and only race horses at the distance they do well at. I don't think you've got any problem at all! |

Supercat, sadly these are few isolated incidents of my good horses and Aquanaut is old now and her only offspring of note has been Imagination. I have yet to win the Nunthorpe, Prix de L'abbey or Kings Stands 31 season into the game and am often beaten in the 6f group 1's by game horses. Edit Aquanaut was a late maturer and most of her group wins came at the ages of 5 and 6 and some of her offspring only started winning group 1's after the age of 4. The rest never realized their potential so she has been a frustrating mare |

My horses have more stamina than they should have, I've got a horse out of a mare who only got 6f and by a stallion who was just a miler but that was stretching his stamina and it wants 10f at 3! |

The extra speed rating is lower and the cruising speed is higher compared to Peace which is typical of stayers in the game. The question is where the high-ish stamina bar came from and I have seen this as a result of a grandparent. So the combination of loss of finishing speed higher cruising and higher stamina means the game "interprets" this as a stayer if you get my meaning. From what I've observed it may be that the game chooses a best distance based on the stats for the horse some of which I'm pretty sure we don't see. |

Are ANY of the horses in it’s lineage able to stay that distance? If so then it’s purely a case of the stamina skipping a generation. You could have an entire lineage of 5f horses apart from one that preferred a mile and you would potentially have a very good miler. |

Triples was a 5f sprinter and Free my Heart was a 9 furlong horse that won Group 1's over both a mile and 10 furlongs. Free my Heart could be the explanation then although she never got 12 furlongs. Crowds beat 4 of my best G1 males over 12furlongs but seeing that the sire is a game bred with 1m3f distance may be the reason she accomplished this. Still trying to breed a 5f horse. Hopefully one of these 5f horses further up the linage will help with this. |
