Hi all. Am a new player and even on easier mode with simple training, I'm not having much luck.

In the first season, it doesn't go too badly with the odd winner and I've also had a Group 2 winner. However, in the second season I'm having no luck at all despite some of my horses improving. I suspect this may have to do with condition. The left condition bar of the condition bars simply won't go up above about 90%, whether I race the horses or rest them.

Can anyone suggest a solution? Could this be the reason?

The conditions bar goes up and down dependant on the horses ability to withstand prolonged racing and its ability to recover.
I try to avoid racing a horse more than twice a month, although sometimes this isn't possible due to high valued group races within close time scale. I try to let the horse(s) rest in between racing by selecting the low training option (blue). If left this way the horse should recover condition up to 100%.

(Taken from the questions on the starters orders front page)

Q. What does the horses CONDITION parameter relate to?

A. Starters Orders 1: Basically CONDITION is refreshed every season and decreases during the season with racing (and to some degree training). A horse can usually be raced many times before it’s CONDITION becomes affected (although this depends on individual horses parameters) – once a horse condition begins to fall it can be considered as having had enough racing for the season. Although extended periods of rest will refresh the horse slightly (but rest has a negative effect on FITNESS so a balance is required). Starters Orders PRO: The training model has changed slightly in Starters Orders PRO. CONDITION Falls rapidly with racing and is refreshed with rest/varying training schedules. However, if a horse has had enough racing it may well be impossible to refresh the horse with short-term rest. In this case rest the horse un till next season.

On a side note, in case you are not aware, there is an online manual in word format which can be access on the start page of the game (can't recall link name as I am at work) however there is a version available to view directly from the web which can be accessed here : http://www.startersorders.com/instructions/

Hope this helps but as always do a search on the forum first and then ask questions freely if you can't find information, most of us will be happy to help :)

Post subject:  Re: Condition

Hi everyone this is my first post/reply to any post made.

I have a few problems that are somewhat a little annoying.

The first problem i have is with the condition bar,as above i find the condition of my horses drop after 1 season played and they don't raise back up to 100%.i thought this was due to over running a horse or it getting older, but as i played on and bought more horses they were the same, even the new 2 year olds.
Thinking i am doing something wrong i tried other methods of playing and even read this forum to see if others have had the same problem and to see if i was doing anything wrong and found only this related topic to my problem.
i have even tried on the jumps and flat and also combined, same thing on all after 1 season no matter what i do or try.

i don't over run my horses and i have sent them out to the grass before the end of the season to try and sort this but all has failed.

2nd problem i have is with the jumps group races.
Winning them and not having them show they are a group winning horse,as it shows on the Flat.there is no group breeding indicator on the jump season.

regarding the post above.

i have 11 horses in my stable at the moment.
the first season
1 horse run 8 races
2 run 7 races
2 run 5 races
1 run 4 races
3 run 2 races
bought 1 horse 2 weeks before the end of season it never raced
all horses sent to grass before end of season.
ended season,new 1 started.

skipped 2 weeks races and checked my horses.all were 100% fitness, 100% condition(green bar),90% condition(red bar)
so i bought a 2 year old from another stable checked it and it was the same.

skipped a few weeks hoping they would go up,but they never went up and my horses don't seem to run the same.

i am hoping the new game i started on the combined UK don't do it.

plus the combined seems the best way forward now as when buying a 2YO in auction you get some that don't run on the flat and only like the jumps and some don't like the jumps.this may also sort the condition out as no breaks in between seasons.

fingers crossed.

will post here if they drop again after a years running or if it worked for me and they stayed 100% or go back up to 100%

hi all again

a little update on what has happened.

played almost 1 season now and all horses are ok and there condition raises back up to 100%.

noticed a 2YO i bought was at 90% after buying it in the weekly auction,I never saved it and played on for a while and it never went up at all.checked my other horses and all was ok so i sold the 2YO in the next auction.

one thing strange has happened tho....my 2 2YO from the start have become 3YO in November, they were both leading the 2YO race for top 2YO and now they both can't race in 2YO races and are no longer classed as 2YO,funny thing is the Flat season ain't over yet.

On another note playing the combined seasons seems a good idea, less runners in the races, noticed a few with 0 runners,so i put 5 of my horses in to claim the money.

but all is going ok for now.

It's because you're playing the combined schedule, so, in flat part some, but not always all, your 2 year olds will age in November, and, you NH horses in January. Also, unless combined has been fixed, and I haven't read anywhere that it has, i would suggest not getting too attached to your current game, because there's trouble ahead. :(

I have released patch 1.004 a couple of days early. I still have work to do on the combined schedule mode but as a crash bug has been fixed and the backup option has also been fixed it makes sense to get the patch out. Hopefully and remaining problems with the combined schedule can be fixed later this week.

as stated here the crash bug on the combine season got fixed.

Post subject:  Re: Condition

ok i have played 1 whole season on the combined and started a new season.

had 8 horses to race with in the first season and 3 won group 1 races.

on the start of the new campaign i looked at the conditions of the 8 horses and also a few 2YO i bought in the auction, all the 2YO's were down at 90% condition and 5 of my horses were also down to 90% condition, the other 3 were still ok and at 100%.

I then skipped a weeks racing to see if any would rise up again but none did,so this told me these horses were worsening in form and they got retired for breeding.(simple's)

Colin - Do you mean that the bug that caused the combined game to deteriorate after 5/6/7 seasons (no horses appearing in races etc) is no longer an issue? If so, great!!
