Post subject:  Urgently need some expert advice

Hi

I was planning on only playing the low grade handicapping stuff this time around but it's proving impossible on both flat and jumps.
I can't ever make any money in handicaps and my stable is always in debt so I can't afford to buy any horses.

Also the game seems to be set up to only play the G1 horses game as I can spend days taking a 70 rated horse up through the handicap to get it rated at over 100 but the program won't recognise the improvement.
Even when I stick a 112 rated horse into a little race that I find in the jumps game with only 5 horses rated in the 70s and 80s and my horse is tailed off last and a 70 rated horse wins the race with a comment that I was well outclassed.

Anyway when I used to play before I could do the ctl alt del thing to check results and then go back in to bet them and get some money (£100k isn't near enough to start a stable on here)
Now I find on my new laptop, I can't do ctl alt del because when I go back into the program it's always a different game.

Please can somebody advise me how to get back in to the same game so that I can make some playing money because you can't play this game without millions of pounds in your bank.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Start game and run through races for the day. Write down winners of races you want to bet in. Ctrl Alt Del and stop game using taskmanager. That means when you restart it will be at the start of the day you have just written down winners for. Bet - hopefully win big and continue :)

I know what you mean, and then i worked it out....

Start a new game, straight away save and exit, then load it again and then do the checking of a couple of days results and then when you've ctrl alt + del, it will be there to load at the same spot! Does that make sense?

Hi Rob

Making money on the jumps game is much harder than the flat game, so i use the Nh flat races to make money. I open three windows, after i watch to see who wins i play the second game and i usually ( almost always wins), after three nh flat races i've won 25 million. I think that's always enough to play.

Thanks for the replies gents

I will give it a go and see what happens.

Just had 2 fairly decent horses in a flat game that I had taken right up the handicap to 110 and 104 so I put them up for sale to see what I would get.
Got about 150k for the 104 and 250k for the 110 but as my stable owed almost 400k I was left with no horses and about 17k.

I need to get back to the old games where I have plenty of money and lots of great horses.

I will post here and let you know if I can get started OK.

Thanks again.

You've just got to prove to yourself how good your training skills are...

If you don't have any money, you have to use your head to get desired results.

Treat it like real life trainers would, mix it up, try something different and eventually you will see results.

That has worked for me several times when I have zero cash.

Why cheat, when you can play the game honestly

I tried playing honestly but found it impossible to make any money.
(I did try improving horses and selling them but it's not easy when the program doesn't always recognise the improvement)

in real racing horses can get put up 6lbs or 7lbs for winning races and come down 1lb at a time after losing, whereas on here horses get put up 1lb or 2lb for winning races and can drop 7lbs or even 9lbs after losing.
I do understand however why some things need to be different in a game from real life racing.

besides if you want realism then you have to play like real trainers do and cheat.

I tend to find that my horses get put up ridiculous amounts and never fall back down again, despite losing. Or they get stuck on a certain rating. e.g. my sprinters seem to get stuck on about 120-125 and no matter how many races they win they never go up, but when they lose, they'll drop about 6 lbs! But in general I don't bother with handicappers anymore, you only need to win 1 race and they seem to go up 10lbs, even after beating nothing by not very far!

I guess Mark has tried coding the handicapping system to be as realistic as possible, not an easy feat I'm sure. I agree that the handicapping system has its flaws; successful horses do tend to get stuck on a certain rating. Maybe if Mark is reading this he could comment on whether this could be addressed in a future patch or if this particular hard coding can't now be altered, and we all need to be accepting of the handicapping as it stands in the game?

Not quite sure why people feel the need to ctr/alt/del or need any form of cheating....The betting in the game is in favour of the punter... the %'s that each race runs at would put a bookmaker out of business. Having said that I personally do not touch the betting ring as I enjoy buying a cheap horse, win a few races then sell on for a profit(sometimes make a bad loss) and slowly build up the stable. Society has dictated we want instant rewards... my recommendation...play the game the way it is designed...and just have fun with it :D

You are joking? Most races I look at are 120%+ Id love to be a bookie at those figures

LMAO...have you downloaded a Ladbrokes mod?...just kidding....I just reviewed the last 15 races and the % are as following 96/107/92/90/86/84/95/93/97/94/90/96/100/101/88/96.. Wonder why the difference in two different games

Handicapping is always something that can be improved and tweaked. It won’t be looked at in the short term as there are other priorities.

The odds percentages are affected by the difficulty level you play at.
