From Wikipedia...

Quote:
The Blue Hen is named for the horse breeding term "Blue Hen," meaning a mare who has proved herself exceptional in producing high quality foals, almost regardless of which stallion might be the sire. These sons and daughters would also have an impact on the breed. An example of the highest sort of Blue Hen mare would be La Troienne.

Well, I've got one. Her name is Lita. A winner of more than $16 million during a racing career that that spanned from 2 to 5 years of age. Among her wins were the Kentucky Oaks, the Dubai World Cup and the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic. Sent to stud at six, she has produced two World Cup winners and is the second dam of a $2 million earner. She's thrown five millionaires. One has won $14 million and another has won $11 million and still counting. :D For the record I'm a manual trainer on hard setting and I never inbreed my horses.
