Try and run horses on Open day and save on day before.

OK played Owners mode for about 5 hours in total and have worked out its defiantly not for me
in fact to say that it was somewhat of a culture shock would be an understatement
found it very difficult to motivate myself to train 0 - 60 handicap horses that in fact were struggling to win at claiming level
Found it highly frustrating when an owner bought there horse back after the miracle of it winning a claiming race
and lost the will to live when a van turned up at my yard with said horse in it Thanks for bringing him back MR Koukash  oh god
after playing 1000s of seasons with incredibly bred superstars i now realized that i have been spoilt rotten :P
i ended up having 57 horses by beginning of April and the best horse in the yard by far had the potential at a push to win a listed race
but he was a 7yo so the chance of that happening was close to nil
out of the 57 id say 50 of them hadnt a chance in hell in winning a race
at least i gave it a go but glad to see slot 1 is now empty

i would love to see an human owners mode where i could buy horses and place them with trainers
or breed my own horses and place them with trainers now that would be good

i could just turn up on race day with a big fat cigar and a bottle of moet de chandon and enjoy watching my horses 8)

back to breeding subs for the LGE

It does take patience but in NH mode I got 73 horses in season 3 and getting offered more horses than I can cope with. Not winning Trainers championship but doing like most real trainers would do and keeping the ball rolling. I have won a few group races but that is when the trouble starts as I lose them to worse trainers than myslef which does not make sense. Wish that side could be sorted out as it would not happen for real.
Also like your idea of breeding and seeling to owners.
