Post SO5 Breeding
Hi Forum,

Cant believe i have never heard or seen this game before. I've only been playing this for about a month or so, but have invested considerable amount so far in playing it.

Currently playing UK Trainer & Owner (easy).
Love it!

Which leads me on to my question:

Breeding seems to be the hardest part of the game. Until now I've employed a policy of only using my G1 winners to send to stud age 5. So anything below that standard G2, G3 Listed gets sold off at the end of their fifth year.

I'm struggling with succesful breeding mixes....

so here goes....do you breed your horses based on distance or stats?

if distance, then do you mix long and short distance horses to get an average distance? Or do you breed 1 mile winners with 1 mile winners?

If stats...which are the most important....cruising speed, finishing application etc...

OR i guess is it completely random what works?

I understand there may be a competitive element to answering this question as there is an online racing league and breeders dont wnt to give away their secrets!!! But some pointers would be great!

You're potentially mixing two things here. Breeding for the game and breeding for the league. In terms of breeding for the game, breediing your fastest horses will lead gradually to a time when you'll dominate all the races. Breeding for the league is different in that you want to maximise the speed at which your horses get better.

In terms of breeding based on distance/stats then you want to maximise potential. After that it's a question of breeding the fastest horses together. As to how to find the fastest horses you have to test in the Race Builder. Do a search on CK testing and you'll find out more about that.

There's plenty of breeding info out there. Again do a search of breeding especially in the league section of the forum and a lot of your questions are already answered.

Thanks all....read all the posts....not sure it makes sense yet but will keep trying.
One final question before I go and blow up the breeding barn I have.
I've got a few older horses in the breeding barn, who's stats have withered away to next to nothing. When they are bred with other horses, do they pass on their 'current' genes or do the stats from their youth still hold?

i retire everything once they reach 10yo in breeding barn just to keep the barn fresh

i noticed ages ago that the horses stats decline to nothing after a few years in barn

But i agree with Andy
i think they pass on their best stats from there prime
