in other words do the courses interchange? Is the schedule separate from the courses?
Also how can you tell what are prep races and what they are prep to? I use the same courses and names as mj does. You could copy and paste all the courses in my 3-D folder but that will take longer. Just copy and paste the 3D courses not in his pack because they are just redirects to the various generic course. A very small size you are copying compared to copying and pasting all the tracks. You will also need to use my schedule and showcase files. Basically if you want to use my schedule and my courses you must must use my data folder. You can use his gfx no problemo. On the schedule file you will see this... 2,3 Santa Anita2 _preps,San Pasqual Stakes San Antonio Stakes 2,9 Laurel Park2 _preps,Frank Whiteley Jr Stakes Miracle Wood Stakes In the game you can go to the diary page and also see the prep race progression when clicking on a feature race. I see I forgot to remove Bowie racecourse and the Maryland listed races. So if you downloaded my latest - you get that circuit. I will re-upload the revised non Maryland circuit soon.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
I think Belmont may be your fastest track... I have played various games of between 20 and 30 years breeding my transfers and the records are usually in this ball bark. I'm always trying to break these times... 6fur - under 1:09 7fur - under 1:20 1mile - under 1:35 1m1f - under 1:47 (which I did once) 1m2f - under 2:02 1m3f - under 2:15 1m4f - under 2:26 (which has been done a few times) I watch the races in their entirety on fast forward to get the fastest time. The records from 7fur to 1m 4f are all my horses.

Wow! Those are some speedy times at Belmont. I knew Monmouth was fast but Belmont Park is just wow! I know I use Belmont as my CK track due to most races having only one turn but now this is a reason to try a different track to get more fitting results.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
Hey Mj, I'm just starting to delve into making a course. I was wondering about these options and if you use them. I kind of understand why one might change the scale of the texture but have you used the rotate texture option? If I don't use either of these options will my textures look off when I finish? Quote: Creating the terrain - spray painting
The first texture in the list on the right is the base texture. This will be used to cover the whole terrain. There's a yellow icon with an arrow to the top left of the texture. Left click on this and hold it down, now use the mouse wheel to move up and down. As you do this the scale of the texture on the terrain will change. To the right of the yellow icon is another icon with an arrow on it. Left click on this and hold it down, now use the mouse wheel to move up and down. As you do this the rotation of the texture on the terrain will change. The final button on the base layer is a plus icon to the left of the texture. Click on this and you will be asked to select a new image. Navigate to the 3D\terrain folder and select a new image.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
I have used rotate a few times, I just don't see any need for them unless the texture isn't square or isn't fluid. Scaling is nice as it gives the texture a more fine look. Either works, it is more based on preference. I always end up scaling my dirt, sand, and concrete as it looks crisper. If you need any help with course designing, feel free to ask. I'm excited to see what you'll come up with!! Also, I promise promise promise I will get back to making my courses. I wanted to finish them by a few days ago... but I got hung up. But I will finish them! I promise!

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
I am having all sorts of problems from the beginning. First I am having this strange thing happen which I reported in the bugs thread... Quote: I have used the editor the past few days and when I'm done I go to play the game some - both times I find my desktop SO6 shortcut is unusable (says it has moved) and the application button in the SO6 program file directory is gone completely. Any idea what is going on?
I just tried it again while writing this and it happened again. It happened after I loaded my course I was working on and then closed the editor. If you don't mind giving me some advice on the most most basic stuff? I've been working on Atlantic city as my test/practice course. 1. I have the overlay.jpg mirrored and I load it up. It needs to be scaled. First I save the map as "Atlantic City.map" and then close the editor. 2. I load up the map and scale it. I save and close editor again. I load up my map and then select the overlay for it and using the spray paint terrain option exclusively I create my course grounds and track (no entities/buildings/etc.). I work on the way points and bends. I save and leave my progress to be continued the next day. 3. I load my map. It's there as I left it BUT I want my overlay too so I can continue placing things. I load the overlay and my map is not there. Is there a way to get the overlay to work with your saved map again? Edit: Just loaded my course in progress and then the overlay. The waypoints I set are showing but none of the spray painted terrain is there. Should you put everything on your map including entities/buildings/etc before beginning the course details? Also the wrap point - My A.C. course is your basic oval - my waypoints start in the stretch and go around the track and the last waypoint is just after the first one at exactly where the finish line should be. I make the the last waypoint (finish line) the wrap point. Is this correct?

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
Making some progress. Have a working track and am just placing entities. Place looks too pristine for the skeletal remains of Atlantic City race course though.
Question: I have placed Bush011 which is found in the billboards menu and when I F1 to get a better view of the bush the bush always moves in the direction you move. Is there a way to get the bush to stay put? I used a fence instead of the bush for now.
Are there no benches to use? Benches are a staple of all US tracks.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
Sirius, why are you loading the overlay everything you open it? It should be there automatically. Reloading may cause some scaling problems. The wrap point should be the first point and needs to be in line with the last point. The last point has to be placed after the first point. Also, the desktop shortcut thing is happening to me as well, so it's not just you computer. It's very annoying. I have ended up just using the exe in the folder but the shortcut thing bothers me.
Jamesnewton, follow the instructions on the first post as to what to download. Make sure you backup your files. Then you can just copy and paste the files into your starters orders folder.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
What does the stand view entity do mj? I opened your Monmouth track and I believe the stand view you placed on top of the stands.
And the water entity? Have you used that at all?

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
atigger, I will try to get a video or step by step images up on thursday maybe. Sirius, stand view will change where the stands view camera in game starts is at. I put it at the top of the stands since thats where the camera is usually. I have used the water entity and it looks really nice. I recommend it.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
Here goes - my first course. I didn't use many tree entities. Atlantic City And my version of a signature - my courses will always feature this guy somewhere on the grounds... Having trouble getting the correct wrap point. Any thoughts? WP1 is after the green A6 and the last is WP42 at the finish line.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
That course looks good. It is a good idea to surround the course with simple 2D terrain images as you have done. If you shrink them a bit you also give an impression of a bigger game world.
One thing I noticed is that you may not have built the lighting. This gives many objects (including rails) shadows in the game.
Click LIGHTS then BUILD LIGHTING (it takes a while). Then exit the editor and re-load and then export the map.

Re: Start It 2.23 (New Courses + Racing UK Skin)
Thanks guys! After spending a few days with trial and error I must admit I rushed the final product which is why no lights and few trees and all that empty space.
