Lordedaw wrote: 8 winners !! Well, to say it was my best week ever would be something of an understatement. Whilst all eyes were on Cheltenham I somehow managed to plunder 5 races on Tuesday's flat card. Come Taste The Band, the Northern Dancer of my bloodlines took the Cambridgeshire in dramatic style. I can honestly say this one was planned ever since his first win earlier in the season as most of my horses seem better at 1f less than their best game distance in the league. 3 wins for CTTB now and if there are any more 9f races he might yet bag another. Purple Records a son of CTTB won for the second time in the nursery before 2 of my window horses won. Russian Foxbat for the second time in three weeks, last weeks step up in class didn't work, back to hcaps and she won well. Laughing Wolf was headed for the Leger or Doncaster Cup but a re-route saw him take a long distance handicap. Tilt at the Melbourne Cup on the cards for him. The almost unbelievably Mona The Groaner landed her second win of the season on the speedway track at the end. I also had some others run well in defeat Sunset Ride was placed again and Shadow of the Moon was placed in a G1.
Over the sticks it was my best week as well. Smoke and Mirrors taking the Vincent O'Brien at Cheltenham to give me a Cheltenham and Royal Ascot winner in my first season. I also had plenty placed who ran better than expected including Crazy Parachute who nearly lumped home top weight in the 4 miler. He will take his chance in the National. Also Next Edition who was running from a mile out of the handicap nearly won the Pertemps final. Away from Cheltenham two chase wins, my first all out chase wins as my other was a dead-heat. Days May Come won the Fakenham Silver Cup and Dancing Days took the SO6 Qualifier. Both were moved from Cheltenham races. Big shout to Doug for advising on placement as I would probably have only had 2 or 3 winners this week if had gone with the glory entries. Pained me not to have a runner in the Gold Cup !
Well done to Leon for becoming the virtual Michael Dickinson, great credit to John for not bleating about his poor form on first 2 days. Hats off to PJR for taking the ribbing in good part. Darren H, let us know what your best chances of the week are and we can get Doug or the new boy (!!) to commentate on them. And Darren T sorry for running into form and knocking you out of the cup. How did I end up in the semi final. Also thanks to Josh for keeping me on my toes with upside down filming and some creative angles. Wonder if my jockey is up yet from race 34 !!
Thanks to Stu and John for being on the previews and to Doug for staying up late to do them with me.
Who needs S07 ...... I'm just getting the hang of SO6 !! Impressive! Very happy for you, Martin. You are always supportive for everyone else. And regarding division 1, thought I had your back there for a moment, and then BOOM, and you went into hyperdrive and was away

HUNT League 1 - would be the same, I think. League 2 - 0-100 to Listed????? That theoretically gives four trainers a chance to win - well actually eight trainers - 4 for the flat and 4 for the hunt. Personally I think League 2 would be a cracker!

 Re: Weekly Reaction
Ok after doing the comms for the flat Day 2 for the first time, I want to say that Martin, Doug, Gray & Tim deserve much more credit than they get, its one tough job, but I enjoyed all the same. Please, all except that it was my first time and yes a few um's & bad horse calling, not at the end thank god although I am not 100% sure but it was really to help Martin and the boys out, he cant call fifty races a week, so I saved the day hahahahaha..... or did I "Dun dun duuun" So be kind, sadly you might have to suffer me on the hunt too, for a few Its prob a little more excitable than we have had before....

 Re: Weekly Reaction
Well after a tough cheltenham (two getting done in photos) the week was salvaged thanks to G1 winners on the flat in the final day. Pleased that Gorse Covert got his G1, can't believe how good he has turned out to be, was just pot luck that this horse was in my team, as i don't trial 2yos so i just threw him in not knowing how good he was. Will have to bring him back next season as a 3yo where he stays 1m 2f if i remember correctly.
Adamawa winning the Foret was a bonus, and Sagan running a blinder in the Arc to finish 2nd, after winning the Ebor off 110 the week before.

 Re: Weekly Reaction
4 winners today 2 in each code
King Kobra His 4th win and his 2nd g2 win of the season winning the long distance cup i thought he was beat but just found a little more at the end maybe the Melbourne Cup or a trip to Greyville next.
Newsround Her 5th win of the season and my only horse out of 55 runners to remain unbeaten this was her 3rd Group race win must admit I thought this was a G1 race but it was a G2 not sure i would have run her if I knew. Id say this could have been her last run of the season I am considering the Elan Gold Cup at Greyville but I think King Kobra will get preference there so it will be nice to see her retire unbeaten.
Dame Jenny Bond Joined Sgt Bilko as my only other multiple G1 winner in NH and what an iron horse she is I was gutted she fell in the gold cup i doubt she would have beat the winner but she would have had a war with him no matter she gains great compensation here I have been breeding the heck out of her to find next years GC horse have not found one better yet
Casement Park Bags his 2nd g3 of the season was not sure he could be competitive off the weight but nice to see him win another race was meant to be the world hurdle horse ended up being a handicapper
Apologies to Doug Dougs Fuzzy Screen My British Champions day G1 Races squad bombed Doug South Carolina Dame Helen Mirren all ran way way below par they usually adore Ascot such a shame to see him go down like that it was not his true running Lets hope he can finish with a bang at the Cox Plate he went down so tamely as did DHM & SC thats racing thats life as i say hope he can run big for you in the cox this has always been the target.
Congratulations to all the winners & placers thanks to the team Great Comms as always good luck in the grand national tonight.

 Re: Weekly Reaction
A ggod first day from limited runners, I managed to win the foxhunters at Aintree, ironically with a flat reject horse thrown in at the last moment, and managed a second in the Red Rum handicap chase with an old stalwort in his third season. I had a runner up on the flat in the 1m6f handicap (beaten by Martin, suprise suprise) and also managed a pleasantly suprising 5th in the QE2 group 1. All set for the big one tonight in the hope that the good Aintree form continues. Darren

 Re: Weekly Reaction
Only the two winners for me, but what a pair they were. Sympathy for the Devil finally delivered on his stand out trial form and won the G1 Liverpool hurdle after an under par performance at Cheltenham. And Law of Consequence who has been knocking on the door for a while, ran a snatchy but wholly accomplished race for the Melling Chase also a G1.
Only a performance in the National and a better showing from The Wraith in the betfred could improve on this Aintree Festival.
