Post Jumps Breeding
To get the best jumps horse do you breed the best jumps horses???

Only that I'm new to the game, been playing for around a month, and I want to be fully understanding of the breeding before SO5 comes out.

Eg. If I want a brilliant 3m chaser do I breed G1 winning 3m chasers together (simple terms)

I'm asking because in real life all horses are bred from the flat...

Same in the game. Get your best from with flat with average or good jumping ability and breed them for the best jumps horses. You'll get almost nowhere breeding in a NH only game, you don't get a high enough quality of horses. I think this might be different for SO5 though... I hope so!

Thanks for your reply.

So if I breed good flat staying horses eg. 1m6f... what will the Foals preffered distances come out as??

And in real life the good jumps mares will breed with flat horses I believe? For example Quevega will be used?

So a multiple G1 jumps winner wouldn't produce better jumps horses than a multiple G1 winning flat horse? (in the game)

Just looking for a bit more detail please?

Thanks

You don't which distance a horse will prefer until it is born, but judged on the parents you can make an educated guess.

You rarely get a multiple G1 winners in the stud in the NH game, hence why you'll get almost nowhere trying to breed in the jumps game.

Look at what your head lad says about jumping ability in the training menu on your flat game and then transfer horses he says are good and start your breeding from there.

So breeding in SO4 is very close to real life then?

Apart from inbreeding?

Errr, not really. But I have found that my best jump horses have either been from my flat game or bred from flat horses. So I'd start there, admittedly I'm only 5 seasons into my jumps game after a computer crash and I've found I'm a little too impatient and fill up my stable too quick to keep playing a jumps game. I hope this has given you some ideas. Don't worry too much about having flat stayers. I have a horse in my jumps game who won the Middle Park as a 2yo and wants 6f on the flat. Just look for the good jumping ability.

I hope the breeding in so5 jumps game is better too. I also hope that the horse stats are more accurate reflections of the horses various abilities!!

Agree Hurricane, I'm not too bothered by the stats. But it would be great to be able to play and breed in a jumps only game without such a need for the flat.
