Post Re: Final Flat Schedule
The schedule is meant to stop people from entering every horse every week. Some weeks this might be possible but I dont think its many. It will hopefully make trainers map out a campaign for their horses after the first couple of runs. It should also stop any one or two trainers from dominating G1's at 3 and above. Its not perfect and needs plenty of work for season but the old schedule needed an overhaul and we now have realism and a chronological season for most of it.

As much feedback as people can give over the season the better.

Regarding the 2yo races this is again meant to reflect the realism of real racing. So the 7f, 1m and 1m2 races are introduced as the season progress'. Obviously you could say we shouldn't have a 6f maiden in week 1 but it was thought that would be limiting the possibility of running horses too much.

As said the schedule still needs a lot doing to it and any comments, positive or negative, are welcomed as the season goes by. I already know that 2yo fillies do not have the same opportunities as 2yo colts over 7f and this needs to be addressed for next season. And the schedule is not an exclusive thing. Rich started it and I have finished it off. But next season if one, two or three people want to work on it after a discussion on the forum once everyone has had time to reflect on the season and where to improve the schedule then that would be great.

I feel we have more of a community spirit for this season and the more people we have in both staff and voicing their opinions the better. Im also looking forward to plenty of banter!

nothing is going to be perfect for this season we are all eager to get going

Matt has done a great job with the sched

the 2yo sched is realistic you are not going to have a 2yo race in a 1m2f maiden early in real life

i think the sched is very good

but agree with Matt we can have a full discussion after this season where everyone can put over there opinion for
making the sched better

i think the community is stronger than ever

The only thing I would like to see in future is a few more weeks its seems to compact into the 13 week window expand it bring in more French racing, German Racing, Usa racing say 16 weeks and if the Distance restrictions on just 2yo's is lifted and put in maiden's for 2yo's over 1m plus around week 5 then Nurseries Could appear after week 8 this would at least make the 2yo season realistic just a thought for the future.

Would also like to see a combined Schedule

Post Re: Final Flat Schedule
In real life nurseries come in around July? Which for us at present is week7. However in the league we dont require three runs to qualify for a handicap mark as in real life horses are green, hard to get fit, or dont want to be knocked about on their first few runs. A reason for us not having 3-4 weeks of maidens is the league does not have as many trainers in real life and also our horses are exported at full fitness and race ready.

Three months for a season is quite long and four months might be too long? Four months is a long time to commit to a computer game, even if the internet is available everywhere these days. Some people will drop out and then the final weeks of the season could have very small fields? Adding races to weeks is possibly a better option and something im not against. We did have the idea of having a smaller, quicker more compact league but that didn't really happen and is actually almost impossible anyway. We have already missed off 5-10 big races that should have been included this season. And Id like to research the lower band races with bigger prize money. Or we could have conditions races where instead of how much a horse cost it would only be for horses rated >85 say.

I would like to see more races from the countries where our trainers are from and the races which a lot of UK horses go for. So in recent years that has been the French classics, Melbourne Cup and we should look to expand on that. Only my thoughts and Id like to think that we will work forward together with that the majority would like or a balance between the top trainers wishes and everyone else.

4 months is a big commitment
i would rather see 40 races per week then add a month on to the season
i guess in an ideal world we are looking at 2 seasons a year
so 8 months commitment in 12 is too much
we dont want to loose anyone we have a class staff roster now

I think 40 races a week is to much myself and maybe 4 months a season might be to much to have 40 races a week we would need more trainers see how many we got this season and go from there I think is best.

I don't want more weeks of maidens either two is enough perhaps a extra week with some races missing put back in one week wouldn't be that much difference just where to pop one in that wouldn't take much doing see how the season goes then have a discussion after it.

As for staff I hope we never have to wait so long again for a season it's almost a year since so5 came out I hope leon can learn quickly of Dave to to set up Tom and then leon can perhaps teach others how to work within tom and so on so we always have someone that can work within tom to make sure the online league keeps growing and get better I am all for learning.

As for loosing staff I think we will be fine Mate I ain't going nowhere it took me three years to join the Forum and league and I don't know why I didn't join before but now i'm here i'm staying :P

Too many races per week as it is, should be 20 max.

There is 5f and 6f maidens for both 2yo colts and fillies, but only one 3yo 1m4 maiden. I would have scrapped the Winter Derby meeting pesonally for more maidens in the first week.

Also 3 options for 14f horses in the first week, 12f is a more important distance imo and there should be one more maiden at this distance for 3yo+ in the first two weeks.

Other than that, looks good to me.

Yeah I should have added an 11 or 12f maiden for fillies and made the other 12f 3yo maiden for colts. The Winter Derby meeting was for people to get a higher mark in the Winter Derby itself to guarantee a run in the Dubai World Cup. It might not work out like that anyway if the 10f maiden at Nottingham is deemed a better race but that was the thinking behind it.

You obviously dont have to work off that for your handicapping as it would make much more sense to rate the races how you see fit.

Here's my version of the full schedule again this time with an added spreadsheet to keep tabs on where your horses are entered. Where you're thinking of entering them, their finish position, rating and any comment you might wan't to make. This was made using OpenOffice. OpenOffice is a free application if you want it. http://www.openoffice.org/

Planner example with my horses. It has all 12 weeks in it. I just copy and paste info from schedule or TOM when I fill it in. Click a row on the far left, then right-click and choose insert row if you have more horses in a category you want to add.
