Could you make the schedule available as a download - then it is easier to sort each race.

Difficult to say what is required without that feature.

Thanks

Why not turn the hanshin cup into a Group 2, 6 furlong 0-100 h'capp, the horses above 100+ has the group 1 races to run in. There's something for all sprinters to aim for then. Or even turn it into a group 1 for 0-100 h'cappers, it would be a group one race with a massive pot of 2.8M for genuine h'caps that perhaps has to have run three times over 5 or 6 furlongs. Perhaps even let trainers have two runners so it becomes one of those massive field races.

I still think you're missing the point Ghost, you're quite hung up on everyone wanting to win group races. Maybe I'm wrong, but is more about giving people more opportunities than giving smaller trainers opportunities at G1's. If you win a G1/G2 handicap with an 85 rated horse, will that horse then get a massive hike in the weights because it has won a group race so it no longer has a chance to run, let alone win? It would also have a group penalty to carry even if its rating didn't sky rocket. Maybe in the last week it might be nice to have some lower graded group races. But I feel that a handicap series which culminates in a couple of listed/group handicaps for trainers with horses rated under 100, or trainers who have won less than 10 races or something like that... Any thoughts?

Cat I'm talking about the last week of the season, it will be the last ever week of SO5. I think it would be a good way to finish it. I think it would be good to go out with a bang. Are u saying u would rather a chance to win a low class 0-90 h'cap or a group 1 with the horses u spent a lot of time on.

Post Re: FLAT SCHEDULE 2014
Most people are missing the point. I have been unable to post for weeks so that's why I'm posting now. Gray it would seem any advice I give re the schedule is ignored.

What needs to happen; races need to be added up to see where the schedule is light and heavy. Then you need to check for clashes of the same races in the same week. Then you can start to edit it. I said this several times last season and now again for this one. It hasn't happened.

When I made the schedule in season one trainers commented all the time on how it could be improved. Gray you were commenting everyday. I do it now and I'm some kind of villain.

The older handicaps should NOT be 3+, again you're missing the point. Get rid of the free handicap and the Greenham. And the 9f listed race. Replace all with handicaps over varying distance.

Happy new year

I have not put it together yet m8 I have it saved to different weeks so it would be easier for me to switch things around with changes I will put it together by the end of the week then I will upload it to be viewed by everyone.

Matt we already know its heavy on the group races side I will go through the schedule again you just picked out 3 races I am willing to cut them and put in handicaps I am a small trainer I have not even done any flat breeding since last upload so I will again be a small trainer with no group horses this year.

Yes I did comment on your schedule because I was fighting my corner  as I was worried about my horse's being able to compete in handicaps and I had the small trainers in mind that is why I introduced the AW Series for the small trainers I will go through the schedule again and add minor adjustments week by week.

Then are you aware that your schedule has a lot fewer handicaps and more group races. I also don't think you should be cutting listed races. Top trainers need to get a grip and realise the other trainers do matter. If a horse can run in 8 out of the 13 weeks that is more than enough.

Matt the idea of mine putting up the schedule Week by Week was to see what we need to change I think myself looking at the schedule week by week is a lot easier than looking at a complete schedule I don't or think its up to me to cut loads of group races without other trainers be it Big or Small trainers comments and feed back I will add 3 0-90 Handicaps spread over 5F 12F and 17f and I will change the 2 6f 2yo maidens one will now be Open Maiden the other will now be a 5f or 6F handicap.

Week 2 now looks much better. If you look at the handicaps now what needs changing?

In one sentence you say you were fighting the corner of the small trainers in season one, but in another you say you can't cut group races unless all the trainers agree. You now have several trainers saying they want more lower class races in this thread.

And by putting up the whole schedule, which several people have now requested, you can easily see where the schedule is light or heavy with races.

Week 4 Now as the Preakness added on the end I have not altered anything else only race I could see to cut was the Musidora out of the 3 10f races but would mean altering the Middleton to 3+ not 4+ so left it I think this week is fine already but let other trainers discuss any changes that may be wanted.

Week 5 Has Some Changes with Churchill downs moving to week 3 Also thrown out the Curragh Meeting Including the Pretty Polly as Chantilly already had two G1 Races already over 1m 2f and with it being a fillies race seemed to be not needed? I put in a 2m 1f Handicap at Sandown and also switched the 2YO race to Sandown.

I also got rid of the 1m G3 Fillies Race at Epsom as already had the Diomed over the same distance anyway and put in a handicap over 1m 2f 0-110 for 3+ horse's to make up for getting rid of the Pretty Polly so 3+ horses could run in this week.

A reason for some small fields last season was having similar races in the same week.

Week 2 races 17 and 30 are very similar, maybe change one of them to 8f?

Week 3 races 23 and 26. Also lots of handicaps between 7-11f, then not many in week 4. Swap the 10f AW for the 5f one in week 4?

If you want to get rid of a race then cut the Cheshire Oaks and make the Musidora and Dante 10.5f.
