Post Qualification for Grand National
How many races must a horse run in to qualify for the national?

Over what distances must the horse have run?

Must the horse have run in a 4m+ race to qualify for the national?

The reason I ask is that I want to upload 2 National horses after week 5, but there are not many races, after week 5, over 4m for them to run in to qualify.

I have never had a National horse before, busy trying to breed some. Need something to do until SO6.

What are the normal ground conditions like at Aintree? I hope it is soft as most of my distance horses prefer soft going.

Would like to see a horse have 3 runs by national day the distance spread is different for jumps aslong as you can get a run somewhere around 4m there are enough races to get your horse's qualified as for the ground no one can say what the ground will be I use a Weather App that mark us give me what I do is research the last ten races of a race say Derby or national I note the ground conditions over the past ten years.
say 4 years Good 3 years good to firm 3 years soft I put these into the app which have Heavy, soft, good to soft, good, good to firm, firm, fast everything must equal 100% so it would be 40% Good 30% Good to Firm 30% soft I then type the course in and click run the app then gives me the going so no one knows what the ground will be but most likely it will be good ground although the app even with 10% of soft can give you soft.

Thanks for the reply.

Your reply is slightly ambiguous.

You say you would like a horse to have 3 runs, so that implies 1 or 2 runs could be enough.

Leon is Nh President I don't know the rules about runs i know on the flat that it is 3 runs before a G1Handicap so i expect its the same for the national otherwise you could run your horse once in a distance race you know yourself it will struggle to compete say a 3m 5f race and get well handicap on 1 run so i expect leon has Tom set up to make sure that this cant happen.

I totally agree with what you are saying. I just wondered if a hard and fast rule had been laid down.

Horse must have run twice. Any horse that meets the distance requirements qualifies

In addition to this any horse who has been in the 1st 3 in its last 3 runs can run but I will have to enter it manually. Basically this means that Grand National trial and gold cup horses can enter. Use the entries thread to let me know about any horse that may be eligible.

I think in SO6 rules for both leagues should be displayed in FULL before the start of the season.
