I must be thick but how do you improve the potential and speed bars?

Small steps Bill for instance with my 2 miler project i had to start from scratch as i had bred no horses past 1m4
i had 1m4 horses that could stay 1m6 1/2 in ck but that is different.

At the start i covered every 2mile+ non owned horse in barn and for around 20 seasons
i then inspected the 2yo when they came out and you keep something that has a decent bar eg extra speed rating
you keep doing this until you get to the bars you want then its a case of getting them to full potential bar at 3
again its about breeding many many generations it took me ages to get there about another 60 seasons of consent breeding

id say i bred 4 or 5000 horses maybe more probably more to get the 2 milers where i want them and of those 4 or 5 000+ id say only 50
were used to continue breeding so that's 4950 horses that were put out to grass and retired effectively chucked in the bin

The only bar i am disappointed with is the cruising burst i may look to improve that but it will prob take a backward step to do so

Its a long process but i enjoy the challenge maybe not for you bill

I hate to think how long it takes you to bred a top staying chaser John i just hope my flat cast offs will be half decent but prob wont stay
past 3 miles

The one thing that's better over jumps is the ratings, it's easy to get 140 on the flat but a lot more harder over jumps. Paul the tough part over jumps is it's only a few 4m+ horses in game ( I don't mind it harder I likes a challenge) but I only really found 1 that was 4m but I think he was more a 3m hurdler so my long distance horses could be useless.
