Post Legendary horses update.
The Legendary horses have never really worked as originally intended regarding career paths. Their quality level is fine. They were never intended to accurately reflect their namesakes level of performance down to individual results (that would ruin gameplay) but were intended more as a 'genetic copy' that will perform to a similar level.

The realistic career paths worked in some cases better than others. New code has been added to improve this. It may need further tweaking. Also a US legend (entirely fictional of-course) has been added to give US players a bit more of a challenge.

When starting a game (version 0.975) be sure that the R-CAREER button next to the legends marked to enter the game is ON. You should see a significant improvement in career paths. Note that even with this option set once the career path is complete if the horse is not retired it may revert to AI trainer career paths. ALso before the legends first race (flat) the horse may enter unscheduled maiden races depending on the trainer (AI).

If you include a foreign legend in your game that would not have a local career path (say Frankel in the Aus game mode) you should turn the R-CAREER button OFF before starting the game.

Would like to see a lot more legends added to the game.

Dancing Brave, Generous, El Gran Señor etc.

Will this be possible Mark?

More legends may be added but they take time to get right and there are other priorities.

I just played through my game with a custom schedule, which includes races from every country. "Secretary" never raced for his two year old season at all, which was very disappointing. My question is, if we're playing a custom schedule how do we get the horses to race realistically, it seems to not happen, and a large portion of SO players do have modded schedules.

Each legend has a schedule attached to it. When it enters the game the schedule is resolved by trying to match the race and racecourse name with races in the current race database on the users machine. Obviously both these items (racecourse and race names) are taken from the original game data. It was done this way so it may work with some lightly modded schedules.

The problem is that if the racecourse name is changed or the race name then it will not be matched. So yes the legends probably will not work with modded data. It could be there are work arounds to make this better or at least result in some of the races being picked up. I’ll have a look at it.

Can you email your custom schedule in along with any other data changes (from the DATA folder only). It will be handy for testing. Maybe easier to zip up the whole DATA folder you use.
Thanks.

Mark, what do you think of my idea (training legends)?

But they're supposed to be realistic, so Frankel is trainer by H Cecil, Black Caviar by P Moody. If you train it you lose the realism and you kind of lose the point (in my opinion). You can breed better horses in game so you can essentially make your own original legends to race against real legends.

Something I wondered about is whether it would be possible to get legend in the game when you don't start at season 1? I started on season 5 in my game and all the legends had long been retired which was a little disappointing. I would be good if they entered the game at the point that you did so you can actually race against them.

It works now, the last patch sorted it out. If u put him in at a latter date he now enters that season.

It's been discussed before. Nice in theory but owning Frankel for example would make the game boringly easy.

Clicking the START YEAR should increase the year by one.

Mark, I'm also curious. In the recent updates did you do anything with how the jockeys choose the routes for the horses?

Nothing has been changed on this that I can recall. Maybe just a bad run.

Maybe it would make it boring but they are only around for a couple of seasons.. Any chance of it going in the game? Maybe after all achievements have been successfully completed?

The Legends should be better with modded schedules and racecourses now (0.976) but time will tell. Also a couple of UK based sprinters added among other fixes and improvements.
