Hi and welcome!

I hope you enjoy the game as much as we all do.

Regarding your horse:

Yes the potential is nice, but everything else makes for a bad combination.

- Very Low Extra Speed/Speed for a Sprinter
- Starts badly
- Finishes badly
- Probably lazy

I would guess it's an early pace horse too? These usually have a harder time winning as well. All in all.. talented horse missing all the intangibles. Now if you find a less talented horse with the intangibles their offspring might win something.

General tips

- Look for anything between held up and even pace horses. Easier to start with.
- Try to keep Consistency/Finish Application/Surface Adabtability maxed out. This is fairly easy to find/achieve.
- Increase Extra Speed first and foremost for a sprinter
- Work on better starting value. Imagine your horse loses 2L out of the gate.. Over five furlongs that's massive.

Most importantly.. breed and have fun. :)

Manual Training doesn't really make a difference. You're for better or worse stuck with what you've got. Stay with Laid Back horses.. they are the best, but it should just have a better Enthusiasm bar. There is no way to see the skills of horses before you buy them.

If you have time to burn, and really want to start with a decent horse. Just restart an easy game until you have a colt that's a G1 winner. This is probaby the easiest way to get to a quality horse to start breeding with.

cheers a few last questions

do the jockeys have different stats and anyway to see them?

how long should a horse race between each race?

and does riding the horse yourself help at all?

No, all jockey's are the same. Regarding the time between races. Look at the Green Bar at COND in your screenshot. It is in the upper left corner. If it is full the horse is at full fitness and can run again.

With a bit of training I would guess riding the horse yourself might give you a 1-2 lengths on an AI run. I don't ride my horses enough to be sure though. Enjoy the game, and let us now what horses you stumble upon.
