The Quarter Horse schedule is cool.

Now all we need are some REAL quarter horse races and quarter horses in the game.

Feels kinda weird racing at Los Al for a Mile in a quarter horse titled race/trial.

Yeah. I wish we had the right distances. I feel like down the road Mark may add in QH and maybe even Harness racing. QH isn't hard to add, just a tweak in the physics to make horses be able to make quick moves in only 500yds or less. I'm actually planning on remaking Los Al now that I have the actually map so I can make an accurate new track and also add in the QH track. Only bad thing about the schedule (besides distances) is no way to restrict races just for horses who finished well in the trials.
But I'm glad you liked it! Hoping someone would. I love QH racing and watch Los Al every weekend (I was even in TVG the past summer competing on The Quarters). Great races and how could you not love Ed Burgarts calls! What a great announcer. If only we could get him into the game too.

I used to live in LA and watched TVG all the time. But now in order to get it I need to upgrade my cable and thats wayyy to much money so Im stuck just watching the races on Twinspires.

I love quarter horse racing. Ive been watching it for at least 10 years. And i'm pretty good at handicapping it. However, I HATE when Los AL has tons of thoroughbred races during the quarters. It screws up my pick 4. Kind of like tonight for example.

Theres trials tonight actually.

It would be great if they could add QH to this game.

Start It 2.26 is now released. Race at historic Jamaica Race Course or turn back the clock on Meadowlands and Hialeah Park. Enjoy!

MJ - I noticed in the 2.26 download, the folders for Atlantic City70s and Garden State Park only include their overlay.jpg files, nothing else. Also, I'm not seeing the different Meadowlands variations or Hialeah70s on the Courses list in the game (where the track records are shown)...are they supposed to appear there? Jamaica and regular Hialeah do show up on that list.

Thanks again for your great work!

Pibb, just updated the download file.
The different Meadowlands and Hialeah70s are alternative courses. They will not appear in game unless you swap the folder names with their current counterparts. I wasn't going to have 3 Meadowlands tracks and 2 Hialeahs in game (pretty sure it would crash too since they are at the same location). You can just rename the folders in order for them to appear in the game. Also, add the below information to the dirt information in the courses.dat file for Meadowlands to have dirt course:
Meadowlands
Floodlights
LL280
F,0
796,403

Thanks, MJ. The folder swapping crossed my mind - easy enough. Once again, great job on the classic tracks! Especially enjoying Hollywood Park - sadly, it's all rubble now (which is probably long gone, too). Haven't had the heart to drive by there...I prefer remembering it in its glory.

edit - with the new 2.26 download, Atlantic City not showing up in the game...all the files are there (its folder is called Atlantic City4), but it's not listed in the Courses.dat.

Whoops! Forgot about that. I did the courses a bit differently this time since there are still more too do so I must have forgot to include this one in the courses.dat. Just add this to the file.
FOR TURF:
Atlantic City
LL380
F,0
797,421
FOR DIRT:
Atlantic City
LL280
F,0
797,421

And a lot of the recent Hollywood Park photos I've seen have the grandstand and casino still standing just the track is all leveled. Sad. Such a historic track and its a beauty. California killed it the moment they decided to mandate synthetic. Hurt California racing big. Then the loss of turf racing one season and the constant sale between CDI and Betfair, just made chaos for the historic track. I think one of the worst things to come out of it was that the amazing Vic Stauffer has yet to find an announcing job. I know he hasn't really been looking for one and has been a steward since Hollywood Park closed, but he has so much talent. I thought he was going to fill in for Denman when he went on vacation, but Mirahmodi is pretty good too (can't complain now, he is Monmouth Park's announcer so I'll hear him a lot). Stauffer might call the Tbred races at LosAl now, if Burgart doesn't want to go back to doing that. I would love to see that happen. But you never know.

Post Re: Start It 2.26
Just some news to report:
I am currently working on more silks for the owners (all game default owners for owner game). Brings the total well over 350 silks.
Afterwards, I will continue making some courses, one of which will be Churchill Downs. I am remaking it by giving it more detail and making it come alive, like I did for Hollywood Park, Golden Gate Fields, and Monmouth Park. I also will be doing a remade Los Alamitos now that I have the actual overlay with the new track (not just a guess at its design) and will add in the smaller oval as a track that you can race on as well. All of this should be done within the month.
If you have any suggestions for silks for me to add into the game or you would like me to do any courses for you (or remake courses from previous additions with more detail, like what I'm doing for CD), please comment.
As always, Thanks for your Support!

Hey Mj im currently using your start it up mod. The original files but whenever i try and install one of your updates the game crashes at loading screen. Im copying over any new data on the update and replacing the old files but it keeps crashing on me. Any ideas why? Great mod by the way.

Thanks

MJ - Thanks for the Atlantic City info...all good now. As for Hollywood Park, the track definitely had a long, slow decline with all the things you mentioned factoring in. I hope to hear Vic again in the future somewhere; always enjoyed his calls. I grew up in the '70s with the great Harry Henson at Hollywood Park (and Del Mar) - classic old school, gravelly voice - he was the soundtrack to many of my favorite calls back in the day.

Quick question - I was going to attempt a Batch Export of your courses to restore the missing crowds for certain tracks, and was wondering how long that might take on my end? I clicked on the Batch Export.exe and it just started running - I exited out as I didn't know if it would take an hour or ten hours. Any advice appreciated!

My advice for batch export:
Copy your 3D folder (but not the courses folder inside...too large) as well as the batch export file to a new folder. Then, transfer about 15 courses over at a time into the empty courses folder. Run the batch export. Should take maybe 20 or so minutes (depends on you computer). Keep doing this until all the courses are done. It might take at most 2 hours. Again depends on your computer.

mkvitz89,
Do you get any error message? Or does it just crash?

I may just reinstall all your stat up files from the beginning. So once i install the two original files then i have to install each patch after that or just the latest one?

Thanks

In order to have the full mod, you need to install them all. They aren't really patches, more like add ons... Once I finish all the courses (which should be in the next few months), there will be one download. This is just easier as it is smaller and only includes new items.
